Just 3 years ago we signed Cashner to a one year deal and could have traded him. It happens and is not that rare. Us signing an ace is so rare that it is pretty much unheard of.

Why? And Cashner wasn't quality then or now.

I could see all kind of advantages to having a Cole at the top of our rotation with Allard, Burke, Hearn & Palumbo in the 2 thru 5 positions. That would be a devastating starting rotation

I do because without them signing a 3B, I think Solak plays 3rd with Roogie at 2B and Danny in CF. I think Gallo is probably clearly our best LF'er and that gives Willie the majority of DH starts. Depending on what they do with Mazara, he or Choo would be in RF. Honestly, probably what I forsee happening like it or not and without us making some significant FA signings, it's probably the best lineup they have.

I think one of the best things that could happen is the Pirates fire Hurdle and we hire him back as our hitting coach. Only problem is I am not sure how long he would be willing to be a hitting coach again.

This is the part where I stated I want to see Woodward manage as if the games care. He needs to learn that part of it just as the players are needing to grow and learn.
