Regression can be chalked up to overuse. The more chances you get the more likely you are to perform poorly.

When most people speak to overuse, they speak in terms of fatigue and being worn down, Dyson's barely pitched in the last week, so I seriously doubt that was the issue tonight

He hasn't had a clean inning in a long time. This version of Sam Dyson is nowhere near early-season Sam Dyson. That version had great location and wicked bite on his sinker. This version is falling behind hitters and throwing way too many flat pitches catching the center of the zone. He's noticeably different.

Not able to watch the game but looked at my phone and we were up 7-2 in the 8th. Get home turn on the TV and see we lost 9-7. Two games we should have had wrapped up in the 9th that we have lost in the last week.

Overuse doesn't reset because you get 4 nights off though. That's a cumulative effect from the start of the season. An arm goes when it goes.

Then we just had a lucky run with him, he's regressed to the mean, he's the pitcher he was with the Marlins again

Unfortunately you've struck on the "ultimate" cord here.

Maybe Tolley will get back into the grove whereas we can move Dyson back to a D & D set up man situation, with Bush in there as well.
