Prepare to bend over one way or the other, because I just read that the Dodgers are going all in at the trade deadline.

The Dodgers ruin everything.

They really do. How could you have Clayton Kershaw, a seemingly endless stack of money, a big market to attract FA's and never make it past the first round of the playoffs? They suck.

The team sucks right now, there is no doubt about it. I was just wondering if some of this might be considered bad luck. When we ran into the Twins, they were playing their best baseball all season and the Angels haven't lost since the all star break ended. We might be just running into teams at the wrong time. Could test that theory this weekend, the royals are up next and have been mediocre since the break.

Nope its pretty much we are giving up too many runs, because our pitching staff has completely shit the bed and/or are hurt

Good pitching brings about good hitting. My :2cents: anyway. They all seem pressing. That is all.

So got to witness first hand last night. What does it say about your organizational depth when Kyle Lohse is pitching for you? And I don't know if it was Banny's or Lohse fault for throwing a 3-1 slider over the plate against Pujols with 1st base open, but that is just plain bad baseball right there. Offense did enough to win. Pitching is downright abysmal. Rinse and repeat.

Its pretty clear you're not a fan of the Rangers when you say thing like "your organizational depth" instead of "our organizational depth"

Thanks for making it clear

How would Lohse pitching a slider over the middle of the plate be Banny's fault? Other than that, your post is correct

Oh, would you like stats? OK...

here are the current top 10 Rangers by WAR for 2016:

1. Ian Desmond 3.8
2. Cole Hamels 3.2
3. Colby Lewis 3.1
4. Adrian Beltre 3.0
5. Sam Dyson 1.7
6. Martin Perez 1.6
7. Tony Barnette 1.6
8. Elvis Andrus 1.6
9. Ryan Rua 1.1
10. Matt Bush 1.0

Seems like overall, the pitchers who are pitching well are doing better than the hitters who are hitting well. Immediately, yes the Rangers are having a pitching crisis. Newsflash: Colby and Derek are on the DL. Griffin and Yu just got off it. The Rangers are running out starting pitchers they would otherwise never ever run out there. So I'm not really sure why it's considered a groundbreaking opinion to say that there are immediate pitching needs.

I'm also not really sure why people take it so personal to suggest there are issues with the offense when that is BY FAR the cause of the most whining on this board. Yeah, I said the offense sucks. And I really do apologize that hurt your feelings so much. I've been using the internet for about 25 years so sometimes I forget that some people take comments as fact and hard truths. I apparently wrongfully assumed that a little sports hyperbole happens from time to time. But I'll honestly try to be better about not being so critical about the offense. Those guys really are doing a great job.

You do realize WAR is comprised of both offensive and defensive components, so using WAR for this purpose doesn't really support your argument, you would need oWAR

That doesn't change the fact that 6 runs is enough to win. The last two nights are no different than what the offense was doing when on their hot run. The difference is pitching.

Yes important to note. We had very little in the way of losses at 2-1 or even 4-3 when the pitching was doing the job. I agree, other than two of the Twinkie games, we were producing runs to win ball games.

Awesome. So what you're saying is that all the pissy little comments about the offense from last night are not rooted in any sort of reality, it's just a lot of y'all needing to whine. Well that certainly is good to know.

I think there is a distinction IMO. Play by play comments are one thing and then looking at the macro make up of a streak one way or the other is another. If our pitching was giving up 2-4 runs a game and we were losing 2-1 or 3-2, that would put the bats on notice. Especially if we were playing against crappy pitching.

Well, there's also:

Roogie's spot in the lineup
Mazara likely needing a AAA return
Fielder
Choo being hurt
lack of Profar
baserunning mistakes

but otherwise, everything is hunky dory

Yes despite all the above crappy performance and managing they still score runs enough to win. Imagine if the team actually listened to us! :)

Well using the correct statistic for the argument you're trying to make is a good start

One of the things we need to remember is, up until the last week or so before the AS game, and now a handful of games after the break, we had a pretty charmed life going.

Baseball has a way of evening things out, even when healthy, and we're not.
