Got to thinking, with this recent teardown, I wondered how some of our key former players were doing with their new respective clubs, and if we still had them on the roster would our team be any better. The answer is a somewhat surprising no. Maybe an extra win or two, but that's almost stretching it. To wit:

Tim Anderson - Stinking it up with the Marlins, having the worst season of his career
Jake Burger - Played pretty well after the trade to the Marlins, yet despite getting off to a hot start this season, he has since gone in the tank as well
Lucas Giolito - Had possibly the worst stretch of a season in his career after he was traded to the Angels. He signed in '24 with the Red Sox but injury concerns might keep him out the entire year
Liam Hendriks - Just hasn't been the same since his cancer battle and now recovering from TJ surgery, he won't be pitching for the Red Sox any sooner than '25
Jose Abreu - Could be his final year as a major leaguer, already sent down to the minors by the 'Stros once. His career appears to be on its last legs
Dylan Cease - Perhaps the one semi-bright spot as an ex-Sox, he's doing ok - not great, but ok - with his new employer the Padres. He's sporting a 5-5 record, with a 3.51 ERA. His 93 Ks rank 3rd in the majors (interestingly enough, tied with him for 3rd is our own Garrett Crochet)

There may be other ex-Sox players recently traded who are doing well, I didn't perform all that deep of a dig. I couldn't help but notice that even Avisail Garcia, who now toils for the Marlins, is also having a bust of a year. Granted, he wasn't part of the recent departures, he hasn't been with us since '18. But he's still a former Good Guy and yet another example of how he wouldn't be helping our team one bit.

With his 10 Ks last night Crochet is now just one behind the Dodgers Tyler Glasnow for the major league lead. Garrett will obviously be our lone rep in the AS game next month. Unless he shits the bed over his next 3-4 starts, he'll not only make the team, he could possibly be tabbed to start the game for the AL. He had that one rough stretch over a number of appearances, but has since righted the ship and to me he's as effective as any starting pitcher in the game at the present.

Oh, and a side note from my post yesterday regarding how recent ex-Sox players are currently performing, Reynaldo Lopez is having a pretty solid year with the Braves, sporting a 3-2 record in 11 starts with a 1.85 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. And I know I'm going waaaay back in bringing up Chris Sale, but it's good to see him back to his old super combative self. Currently sitting at 8-2, with a 3.01 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. And also pitching for the Braves! Damn, their rotation is like the White Sox south.

we all get that you're funny/clever. is it too much to ask to answer a question about something i obviously didn't see?

so he quit? what kind of sox fan doesn't understand our negative shit?

if you can't be negative about the worst sox team in history then you're not a sox fan imo. nothing worse than someone trying to spread cheer during times like these. if he doesn't get that then there's nothing more to say. how is championing our historically bad minor league system and different than your signature, jiddy? promises of "good times to come" no longer work with sox fans. if he doesn't like the continual (and it won't stop btw) complaining about the worst sports owner in the business, that's too bad. the owner deserves it all.
personally i hope he doesn't stay away long as he's maybe the best contributor here, but if he doesn't understand disgruntled sox fans then he is in the wrong place.

Doing a little comparison amongst the pitchers with the highest Ks to date and Garrett holds up very well:

Dylan Cease:
GPGSWLW%WARERAWHIPIPKBB
141465.5451.33.361.0083.010123

Tyler Glasnow:
GPGSWLW%WARERAWHIPIPKBB
141465.5451.83.240.9486.0 11624

Garrett Crochet:
GPGSWLW%WARERAWHIPIPKBB
141465.5452.73.330.9375.210317

Interestingly enough, all three have exactly 14 starts with a 6-5 record. Garrett has the highest WAR, altho I wonder if the Sox owning the worst record in MLB doesn't help give this number a greater punch. In any event, we're looking at three for-sure pitchers in the upcoming AS game.

here's a question. is anyone here aware of a pay site, like MLB , that shows pro football games. i'm talking about where you can pay to watch a particular team thruout the season like you can with MLB?
