love to know who thought hiring Grifol was a great idea. Was it Hahn? This guy is a total clown. Team sucks but he only makes it worse every time he opens his mouth

all of us who don't subscribe to twitter cannot read this post.

That's strange - I don't subscribe to Twitter, and the browser I'm using now is not logged in to my Twitter account. It's a picture of the stadium at first pitch of the doubleheader yesterday. Seemed like there were less than 100 people in the stands.

Mr. communicator Grifol sent Oscar Colas to AAA to send him a message. Apparently, he doesn't know where to throw the ball - hit the cutoff man - or how to field a ball in a way that sets up his throw. You would think 100 games in MLB would have taught him something.

Since our WS our worst run differential has been -192 in 2018.

We're at -181 with 6 to go...so this will, at best, be the second worst season we've had since 2005....when we're supposed to be in the middle of a dynasty run. Ouch.

---

I guess we could help the Cubs out these next 3 games by winning some vs. the D-backs.

We need to go 3-3 or better to avoid the 100 loss mark.

I'm all for going 3-3 with a Padres sweep. LOL

i'm hoping we reach the 100 loss mark. at least it's a reachable goal.

It looks like the Sox will finish with a disappointing 4th worst record in MLB - meaning the bottom 3 have a 16% chance for the top pick and the 4th worse (Sox) get a 13% chance for the top pick in the draft lottery.

I can more than live if the Sox don't luck out with getting the first pick, but I hope they don't draft any worse than 4th. Does the way this lottery works, can it cost the Sox a chance to actually move farther back in the process?

i don't think it really matters. sox don't know how to draft anyway plus they don't know how to train. this team needs to be ripped apart TOP to bottom (mainly top!).

No later than 10th - I think.

As far as I'm concerned, the highwater mark of this BS window for contention was Timmy's HR to win the Field of Dreams game against the Yankees. It was all downhill from there.

well, let’s see, AS THINGS STAND …..

catcher, grandal … old, poor hitter (lifetime .235) with some hr power, slow, one of the worst fielding catchers in the game, appeared in 354 games out of a possible 648. pretty much got nothing for $73 million. *kick him out on his fat ass!

1st b, vaughn … average player. average power, average hitter, slow, below average fielder. at least not injury-prone. still cheap! potentially better.

2nd b, andrus … old, poor hitter, average/poor fielder, *let the poor guy retire!

3rd b, moncada … tremendous disappointment, slow, flashy fielder but a 1.2 dwar for career! (7 years!), poor hitter with some power, constant health risk, one good season out of 7, $40 million so far. fans and sox brass love him … who knows why? traded a better player away to keep this pile of shit. *trade a.s.a.p!

ss, anderson … one time straw but now all clogged up. now that he makes $12+ million he’s washed up at 30, became a .250 hitter, poor fielder, great k machine for a ss, bad attitude. now an expensive waste. *trade a.s.a.p.!

lf, benintendi … decent player but is he worth $65 million over the next 4 years? average speed, average hitter, below average power. at least he doesn’t strike out over 150 times a year like everyone else on the team.

cf, robert … good fielder (but he’s no gold glove either), good power, average hitter (.315 obp) not a great rbi guy considering his hr’s. tremendous strike out machine and gets worse every year. over $67 million next 4 years. *i’d trade him and get good talent in return …. (not that the sox know how to do that).

rf, colas … nobody knows!

dh, jimenez … the guy i think i’ve had the most hope for but he just can’t stay in the game. played in 434 games out of 810. good power, decent hitter, keep him off the field! doesn’t know how to wear a baseball cap! *trade or keep, i could go either way. thing is he’s still very young (26). if he can stay healthy i’d want to keep him for sure.

sp, cease … not nearly as good as we all thought!

sp, clevenger … better than i thought but he’ll probably be gone.

sp, kopech … much worse than i thought!

sp, toussaint … good potential .. i think!

sp, looks pretty bad

rp, looks terrible. no closer, santos may or may not develop. PLEASE trade bummer!

mgr, so far an ‘F’. i see nothing good coming by leaving him as mgr.

gm, same old same old.

owner, one of the worst in the business

writers, disgusting smoke blowers afraid to print the truth about this team.

fans, mostly suckers who don’t mind throwing their money away

major traded:
giolito … after trade he still sucks.
lynn … much better after trade
graveman … better after trade
burger … much better after trade (and was very good before the trade) sox are adept at trading the wrong people.

In the last few years - I've hung out in the White Sox minor leagues - as those prospects have not yet been spoiled by actual MLB performance.

All of a sudden there are a large number of minor league starter prospects lined up for big league opportunities:

1) Nick Nastrini - This dude is ready for the MLB - will probably make the Sox club out of spring training. He was 3rd in all of minor league baseball in swing and miss pitches.
2) Christian Mena - Only 20 years old - has already played the minor league system through AAA. He needs to settle on his top three pitches - show he can lower his walk totals and he's ready for the bigs. He may get a late 24 opportunity - but should be ready in 25. Mena was 4th in all of minor league baseball in swing and miss pitches.
3) The Sox have drafted a number of pitchers who had and were recovering from Tommy John surgery, but should be ready to fully recover sometime in 24. Peyton Pallette - Johnathan Cannon and Grant Taylor. All these guys flashed as top college pitchers and are in various degrees of being ready to show full recovery. Pallette and Cannon may get some call up in late 24, but all three ought to be able to contribute in 25.
4) The next three potential starters have shown good results and pitched a good number of innings in the minors - Ky Bush, Seth Kenner and Matt Thompson. I don't expect any of these three to show up in the Sox roster in 24 (expect maybe Bush), but all three ought to be ready for some MLB service in 25.
5. Sean Burke has great stuff as defined by spin rate and fast ball - 23. He needs to show consistency and the ability to pitch at least 100 minor league innings. He could be ready soon - or he could be trade bait - or become an also ran.
6) Tanner McDougall had Tommy John in 21 - has top spin rates and a fast ball that tops out at 97 mph. Last season he got 68 innings in. She should start in high A .in the begging of 24 and may raise fast though the levels or run into a ditch.

I've never seen the Sox with this amount of redundancy in minor league starters with MLB potential,
