I missed this one. Damn, I wanted him. Feel like the bounce back potential (even if not all that likely) is worth the risk

I don’t think Lawrence will ever be elite like he was expected to be but I could see him turning it around enough so that he’s not viewed as a bust and becoming a decent NFL QB.
Yeah as for Penix who knows, he’s only started 3 games, I’ve always liked him from his college days at Washington but you never know how a guy will turn out in the NFL until he has experience.

Yeah, I think Lawrence could very well be topped out, whereas Penix' final form is still pretty wide open. 3 games is an impossibly small sample size, he could still be much better or even much worse.

I do wonder how much Hunter will play on offense though, I expect him to play more on D than on O, so I’m not sure how much of an impact he’ll make. The Jags have a weak receiving unit other than Thomas, taking Hunter out of the mix their other top receivers are likely Dyami Brown and Parker Washington, that’s not good. I guess Brenton Strange will take over as their TE1 with Engram gone, Strange had a decent year last year and will probably take another step forward this year. But the Jags receiving unit looks like one of the weaker ones in the NFL honestly.

With all the capital they gave up to move up and get him, have to think he's a WR first and CB second. Nobody gives up that kind of capital for a rookie CB. He is the elite WR in this year's rookie crop IMO.

Maybe if this was active players I could see Mahomes, but since it includes retired players I can quarentee Bengals fans' most hated player of all time is a Steeler. There are many that could take that spot.

...and the Bills' would still be Brady

Interesting...our guy is in camp and was even there for some of the OTAs...

This is guaranteed to cost Jerry another couple million per year by still not signing Micah. Maybe he'll wait until next year and have to pay him $50M per

Agreed, who really knows how good Penix will be, I’ve always liked him but it’s impossible to know how he’ll turn out. Lawrence, he could improve some but he’ll never be an elite QB IMO, it remains to be seen whether he’ll be viewed as a bust.

Interesting, I agree that Hunter is the best receiver in this year’s draft, from everything I heard it seemed like he would play more D than O, but I think the Jags need him at WR more than they need him at corner. It will be interesting to see how he does.

I don’t know about that, Mahomes has beaten the Bills 4 times in the playoffs in recent memory, yeah Brady dominated them for years but Mahomes has dominated them in the playoffs and is the main reason they haven’t reached a Super Bowl with Allen. So I think Bills fans probably hate the Chiefs/Mahomes more than Brady or the Pats or any division rival.

Hated losing him but I get it. All time favorite Cleveland athlete in any sport.

Yeah I’m glad he’s not a Cowboy. I think he could cook in their zone scheme if he’s all the way healthy. At the same time, RBs fall off a cliff when it’s over. Legit question if he has anything left.

If he was a WR prospect and a WR prospect only, he doesnt go in the top 20 of the draft. Unless some team was just completely enamored by his physical skills.

He doesnt do the most important thing that WR's need to do in the NFL these days.....run routes!

He is about as raw a WR prospect as you will ever find getting drafted in the first 3 rounds. Not his fault. He was too busy being a top flight CB prospect. But he still is a huge development project at WR.

But he was taken as high as he was because he has ELITE CB skills. His WR ability is a nice throw in. Not the other way around.

It's not clear what the Cowboys are going to run this year. New OC (OL coach background) has said over and over he will tailor his scheme to the players strengths. They now have 3 big strong boys in the middle (assuming the OL ends up as planned) and the one knock on the RG they just drafted is his lateral movement and feeling is he may be better in a power scheme. Definitely one of the things I'm waiting to find out. I am assume it's going to be hybrid in some fashion.

We'll see, but that draft capital investment screams offensive weapon.

Disagree on the route running though. Were there reps where he didn't run routes? Sure, and those were typically to preserve his energy as a two way player. Plus, he wasn't in the offensive meetings, so he didn't know the entire offense. That doesn't mean he can't (or doesn't know how to) run routes.

He was pretty unanimously the top WR prospect in a weak draft.

Totally disagree with that. I don't think he goes two of course either

I think the Browns might have taken him at 2 just as a WR but I could also have seen him simply falling to the Jags, too. There were some scouts who liked him more as a WR than as a CB.

It's all speculation and I'm not in an NFL draft War room, but I'd be surprised if he went before Adbul Carter if he stated he would only play WR and nothing else.

Its a little weird in general that he went before Abdul Carter even with the dual role. Carter could've easily gone #1 tbh
