Just pointing out the age
I'm not sure many of these over the top homers aren't 13 or joined when there were teenagers and just never grew up.
No. I don't understand the question. Are you equally concerned about Jayden Daniels?
Daniels was in college football for awhile and only became a big prospect after his year at LSU as a grad transfer. He’s already 24No. I don't understand the question.
Yeah. Still have no idea what that has to do with me not thinking Penix is going to be a good QB.Daniels was in college football for awhile and only became a big prospect after his year at LSU as a grad transfer. He’s already 24
I reread your post and you offered the opinion that the longer someone stays in college it’s a knock on them as a prospect. I wanted to make sure I had it right before I said anything.Yeah. Still have no idea what that has to do with me not thinking Penix is going to be a good QB.
My reason for bringing up age with Penix and comparing him to Lawrence was to show it's not like he is 21 and has 3 or 4 years to develop into a stud. He's already at the age where he needs to show something and people are acting as if Lawrence already is what he is at the same age. Daniels already did show he is something. Not even close to the same situation.

I'm not saying Daniels won't be good so one has nothing to do with the other. Age is absolutely not my issue with Penix. I simply mentioned it to point out the overall scenario where people are saying he is young and has a lot of time to improve yet people are saying Lawrence is a disappointment and they are the same age. I think Daniels is a fantastic QB. Might he regress? Of course, but based off of what I've seen (and that's all I've got) he is already very good. So again, I have no idea why you are bringing Daniels into thisRe: age of QB entering the league (Penix and Daniels will both be 25 this year)
I think there’s still a possibility Lawrence improves. But the Lawrence/Penix comparison makes zero sense, Penix has started 3 games, Lawrence has started 60. Penix looked pretty good in his 3 starts last season, but who knows how good he’ll be, I like him and always have but it’s still pretty much unknown just how his career will go. Lawrence has played in the NFL for 4 seasons and has only had 1 strong season, so it’s understandable that he’s viewed as a disappointment especially with the hype surrounding him. As far as Lawrence is concerned, the old logic was generally that if a guy had a certain number of starts and failed he almost always failed. IIRC Eli Manning was the only one for a long stretch that turned it around. Recently, though, more QBs have 'turned it around' - Ryan Tannehill, Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold(?) although I think the odds of Lawrence ever being a top 5 QB are extremely slim.I think there’s still a possibility Lawrence improves. Whoever he is this year is who he will be moving forward. Liam Coen I feel like is the first rational head coach hire the Jags have had in awhile. If Lawrence can't hack it with him, Brian Thomas and Travis Hunter then he wont hack it.But I think Lawrence will go down as a much better QB when all is said and done.
I don’t think Lawrence will ever be elite like he was expected to be but I could see him turning it around enough so that he’s not viewed as a bust and becoming a decent NFL QB.As far as Lawrence is concerned, the old logic was generally that if a guy had a certain number of starts and failed he almost always failed. Penix is a total enigma, though.
Hopefully better OL play. A couple free agent OL adds (one good, one questionable) and a 3rd rounder.Whoever he is this year is who he will be moving forward. Assuming people stay healthy, I guess
I do wonder how much Hunter will play on offense though, I expect him to play more on D than on O, so I’m not sure how much of an impact he’ll make. The Jags have a weak receiving unit other than Thomas, taking Hunter out of the mix their other top receivers are likely Dyami Brown and Parker Washington, that’s not good. I guess Brenton Strange will take over as their TE1 with Engram gone, Strange had a decent year last year and will probably take another step forward this year. But the Jags receiving unit looks like one of the weaker ones in the NFL honestly.Whoever he is this year is who he will be moving forward. Gotta get it done in the NFL. How many teams have great WR3s and WR4? Even your Falcons after Drake London doesn't look too pretty. But the Jags receiving unit looks like one of the weaker ones in the NFL honestly.
