Like Michael Jordan fixed Charlotte and Wayne Gretzky coached Phoenix.

Sometimes the best athletes arent the best scouts/coaches. Remember, Mahomes wanted Reid to draft CEH.
I think Brady's a different cat. It's not as much about being a great athlete, or being a great leader on the field, but being able to assess.

It says a lot that he knew where to go when he left New England, and won another championship there at 43.

Sure... weak division, weapons on offense, decent D, essentially the same setup as the Patriots.
Not knocking the goat, but it was an easier path going to another QB-needy team in a tougher division with less weapons on offense.

Even if the Raiders land Johnson, they have no QB and they have a very tough and savvy division with Reid, Harbaugh and Payton.

Depends on the guy, right?

Jon Lynch has been great, Ozzie Newsome was great, Jerry West, Danny Ainge, Billy Beane.. among others

Or, yea, guys like Jordan, Gretzky, and Matt Millon, give everyone a bad name.

What I'm curious to find out is if Peyton Manning will ever toss his hat into that ring.. really love to find out if that's something he would excel at or not

Anything that will keep him out of the broadcast booth I'm all for. He's awful.

I would argue that for their respective positions, they are certainly within the conversations--well not Billy Bean and Danny Ainge..but..shit West was the logo, come on man!
I'll give you kudos for typing out the list on the rebuttle as quickly as you did.

sitting here pondering life in general as I come to the realization that its VERY possible that my Raiders draft Shaduer, and my Cowboys sign Deon and BOTH of my teams are assured of a decade of absolute SHIT seasons

Rex'll run the ball 50% of the time. He's your type of coach.

well philosophy wise yes.
but his time has come and gone, going on 9 years now that he's been out of the game, and even back then, he hasn't had a team over .500 since 2010. I don't think his defensive system, which was truly all he really brough to the table, would function all that well today. Not without 3 Darrel Revis's
