Forgot about that one. Good call.

But I don't see anyone giving up 2 #1's for Darnold, so he'd be stuck returning the average top 5 salary.. which to me, is still ridiculous for what he produced with that talent
I dont have any idea how the vikes will react.
I guess they could just let him walk & get nothing. But after this year. Someone will sign him to start for them. Most teams would be willing to trade for their starting QB. So would the vikes be willing to simply release him? Or would they be willing to sign him for good amount of money for a single season with the hopes of getting something in trade for him? Which worst case. They have great insurance in case of injury or if JJ doesnt deliver.
I think it is an easy call. Pay the man for one year, which a tag would do without future ramifications. Best case. Someone trades a good amount to retain his services from you guys.

Could be. But even giving JJ a moderate benefit of the doubt, puts him no worse than on par, if not ahead of, where Darnold was coming into this year.. which was a busted #1, career clip board holder/ bridge at best
Yeah but it's not about where Darnold was going into the season, it's about where he's at now. Top 5 QB by stats, Vikings may be top seed going into the playoffs with Darnold. Have to see how Viking do in the playoffs, the more success they have the bigger the chances they hold onto Darnold.

& he has been Efficient AF.
If we didnt know of his past. We would think he is one of the best in the game right now.

But it kind of is, they let Cousins walk, and brought him in, knowing that he was what he was. He overachieved.

They did exactly the same thing last year, I'm not sure why it would be a stretch to do it again- this time with the replacement already in house and know that he knows the system

Watching Bears@Packers on FOX... during halftime, they recapped the games in progress and for the Titans game they showed the Oilers logo on their graphic?

Part of the move to Nashville, took the history with them, were even called the TN Oilers to start but since they couldn't drill through the bedrock here they had to change the name

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the Vikings figure something out with Darnold for a couple of seasons and give JJ the Jordan Love treatment.

That worked out pretty well for the Packers.

And really, I think your kinda dismissing Darnold's achievements this season.

Have you looked at his numbers?

Yes, they remind me of 2019 Jameis Winston, with fewer yards (but to his credit, half the ints.. but still more than he should have).

They're disappointing to me, in much the same way Gus Bus is disappointing to me. It isn't about what he does do, it's what he hasn't done/ didn't do. Jefferson, Addison, Hock for 9, and Aaron Jones.. there's a ton of meat left on the bone that those guys didn't get to eat

That sequence following the interception is a perfect three down set of all the reasons why I don't think the Vikes should retain Darnold
