Excellent points. Chargers and Raiders fans can argue for years over who had the worst pick ever.

Another point in Leaf's favor - post NFL success. JaMarcus got his purple drank arrest with no indictment, but Leaf made it to state prison.
Although, I must say, Leaf has completely come clean and admits and owns up to his mistakes during his playing days.

Never heard Russell own up to his mistakes.

Except Russell was the #1 overall, Leaf was #2.

Also, Russell had way more talent than Leaf did. Therefore, I see him as a bigger bust because he just wasted all that talent by not caring about his job.
I really think people underestimate how great Leaf was supposed to be. Here is the link to Mel Kiper's all-time highest graded college quarterbacks. Manning is #3, Leaf is #8. Russell doesn't make the list.

I thought Kiper quit after Jimmy Clausen didn't pan out?

I'll always throw Russel under the bus quicker, harder, and further than Leaf, as I truly think Leaf had real issues he was battling, whereas Russel was just a lazy POS who never appeared to even try to improve.

I would argue that talent is relative to others around you. Some rookie classes are strong. Others are weak. Talent classes fluctuate.

Some rookies may appear to be much more talented than others in their class. Comparisons start to be made by "experts" where they rank based on a flawed and fluctuating talent pool each year.

The NFL is the ultimate litmus test.

True..Leaf will always be directly compared to Peyton, which is just unfair to the Nth degree, but is what it is, and Russel has the likes of Brady Quinn (the only other 1st round QB), Kevin Kolb, Beck, Stanton..among other no names who never played. My guess is the consensus would be that Kevin Kolb/Stanton (both #2's) likely had the best careers, being moderately successful backups for multiple years. Quinn and Russel both appear on virtually every "busts list"

Let’s keep in mind that Russell and Leaf were just picked at the spot their teams had.

JP Losman was traded up for in the 2004 draft.
Bills traded their 2005 1st to get him (ended up being 20th overall).
Guess who lasted until the 24th player drafted in 2005?

Yeah…bad picks can be worse the year after.

But I still believe the worst pick for Buffalo was 2010, 2nd round, pick 41: Torell Troup
Pick 42 was some guy (from Buffalo) named Gronkowski.

Also true, if you really wanna dig into the real value of a bust, you probably should consider that overall cost, including trades. Extrapolating into the guys picked after in a 'what could have been' type equation, that gets pretty iffy though.

Everyone could have had Tom Brady, multiple times.

Eagles claimed RB Trey Sermon off waivers from the 49ers.

It's an ideal landing spot for Sermon, joining a run-heavy Eagles team that didn't bring back Jordan Howard in the offseason and failed to really replace him with any other grinding two-down runner.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I just see it as adding more questions to an roster already filled with them. .....but that's just me.

The Oline is beastly at least.

And Gainwell and Scott are a different kind of back.

Obviously I HATE to contradict the amazing and thoughtful insight from the rotoworld staff,, BUT,...

I see it as a terrible spot for him. Beginning with Sanders/Scott, he's not in competition with Gainwell. Both are proven and reliable, even if neither is in danger of ever being an All-pro.
But beyond being behind proven producers, it's basically the same zone running scheme, RPO type stuff Shanny would've been running with Trey Lance...which he sucked at.

When you think about it, all of these pickups with the possible exception of Michel are flyers at this point.

Haven't seen anything that would shake up a depth chart yet, except for Michel, like you mentioned. And his could be a very big deal. With only J. Kelley and what thus far appears to be a wasted pick in Isiah Spiller, as competition, behind the smallest workhorse back in the league, he could be inline for a lot of touches in a high scoring offense

#2 pick in PPR. I am hesitant to take CMAC bc of how he burnt me in multiple leagues the last couple years. Then my other options I am considering are Ekeler and Jefferson. I actually have the most faith in Jefferson but idk this is tough….

I think Jefferson's value is being overblown. Dont get me wrong - he is very good and worthy of being 1 of the first WR off the board. But Theilen when healthy gets 100 targets and double-digit TDs in that offense. And Thielen was hurt last year and missed 4 games last season.

I think people are sleeping on Henry. We forget in eight games last year:

219 carries for 937 yards and 10 TD
18 catches for a buck-fifty too…

I don't have any reason, but I am weary of Henry coming all the way back from his injury.
