According to MLB Trade Rumors, the top 10 FAs this year are...

David Price
Jason Hayward
Justin Upton
Chris Davis
Yoenis Cespedes
Zach Greinke
Alex Gordon
Johnny Cueto
Jordan Zimmermann
Mike Leake

I am not sure I agree with this ranking, but it is good enough. Where will each end up?

I think Price will stay with the Blue Jays. Dodgers keep Greinke. I think Davis goes to the Yankees and replaces A Rod as DH.

So you think Cueto is on the Giants Wish List? Have you heard of anything or are you simply looking at "affordability"?

Most rumors in Giants-land are centered around Greinke, but I just dont see the Dodgers letting him go. They will pay whatever is needed. I think the Cubs want/need another Ace, and Price has a history with Madden. Past those two, that leaves Cueto and Zim. Both have some question marks, but I think the Giants value their draft picks, so they will focus on Cueto over Zim.

Just my WAGs. If I get more than 2 right, I will be shocked.

HUGE failure of an off-season for the Giants if this is actual. No major OFer and no major SP (Zimm is probably my last choice of the crop) while losing a major SP.

Assuming, of course, no trades.

There's always guys like Parra, Fowler, Kazmir, Kennedy, Zobrist, etc. that you can add on to that to solidify the offseason. I think you'd be better off going after one of those two OF above than a big name, you'll get solid production without handicapping yourself in the future.

Zimm is just a guess, I'm sure you'll land one of Leake, Shark, Zimm or Chen. Idk about the big boys (Price, Cueto, Greinke) but if you land one of those 4 SP and Parra/Fowler plus a solid back end starter or reliever I don't think it would be a terrible offseason. There's a lot of low risk-high reward type guys you can sign as well to add on to that.

I understand you are just spitballing. Just like I did with my predictions.

The Giants have approx 50M available for this year, plus a lot of future flexibility. The fanbase is being prepped for at least 2 big additions.

Greinke is getting a lot of pub, but I just have a VERY hard time believing that the dogs are going to let him go. They have a bottomless budget, and there is no way they will allow their big piece go to the "Hated Ones".

Price makes too much sense for the Cubs for that not to happen. The Cubs are on the verge, they have a need to another Ace, and they have Madden. I just dont see that one playing out any other way.

Zimm will cost a pick and has a legit injury concern. Cueto will not cost a pick, but does have consistency issues. Between the two, I would prefer Cueto, but there is a lot of talk about the Giants targeting Zimm.

As for the OF, the Giants real need is CF. They have 2 MLB-ready corner OFers and Pence. Pagan is too inconsistent and his D in center has been getting worse and worse. There are not any major CF in this FA class, though, so they would need to be imaginative to solve that problem.

Damn, must be nice. I didn't realize you had that much room to work with… if I'm SF I'd go after a Samardzija & Cueto combo. That'd be nasty to add to Bumgarner. I think Shark would do really well pitching in AT&T.

We have about 30 mil. to work with so that could give us a couple solid starters. We have depth in the pen and when it comes to position players so honestly I could see us just straight up using all that money available towards signing two FA starters.

That could get you at least one front-line type of starter (1 or 2) & a decent #3/4 arm as well hopefully. Our FO better not screw it up, because our rebuild has actually started to speed up… we're not far off of becoming a playoff contender if we spend right.

I could've sworn I edited that to say Jason Heyward. I think the Cardinals have been saving up for him and they might even want him more than the other teams.

Price and Cubs is everywhere right now so they seem to be the frontunner.

Greinke is probably more valuable in the NL than the AL but the Red Sox and Yankees are going to make a lot of moves. The 2nd and 3rd tier players are all really solid and I could see both teams dipping into those tiers multiple times.

Giants in general seem like the major player. Its hard to fully predict where they will land because they might go after a number of players.

The Giants have a lot MLB-ready talent that that is blocked at the moment, so they may end up being more active in the trade market than the FA market.

This will be a VERY interesting off season for the Giants. Big, sweeping changes are not their MO, but they have big holes with lots of tradable pieces and a lot of spending cash.

Coming off the books this year...

Timmeh - 18M
Hudson - 12M
Scutaro - 6M
Aoki - 4M
Affeldt - 6M
McGahee - 4.8M
Vogelsong - 4M
Arias - 1.5M
