Why would he lie? Because he didn't get the job and he needs to make it look like he wants to stay so the fans don't hate him for wanting to leave.

Bo will go pro in 3 years. Though he has not been gang busters in Lincoln, he has been consistent. Someone will come calling and the money at the pro level is nothing to turn down.
He will leave to become a DC in the NFL.

Osborne hired Bo to fix the defense and appease the fans. Watson was retained to maintain stability on offense. Funny how the defense is so gawd aweful now.

Bo doesn't like the Nebraska fans or the Nebraska media. He holds Nebraska traditions in contempt. He's made that very clear. The chickens are coming home to roost now, and the relationship is too soured to repair IMO.

I'll answer my own questions just for the hell of it.....

Hypotheticals:

1) I think Bo is still here in 5 years. A blowout loss to Michigan would send this season down the toilet........but with the way the schedule lays out for us in the near future, Nebraska will do well, and Pelini will be here.

2) Bo will be here in 5 years, mainly because we will win the BIG this season and the team will springboard off of that heading into easier schedules in the near future.

Non-hypotheticals:

1) Bo will still be here in 5 years and he will have led the team to 3 BCS bowl games by this time.

Most people I know personally have lost patience with Bo, and a lot of them are ready for him to be gone right now. I had an argument today with a couple guys in fact, about how we would be in bad shape firing Pelini right now.

People just don't seem to understand where Nebraska actually stands as a football program.

Did you not read this somewhere or hear it somewhere in order to make this assumption???

it is though. as far as national recognition? no. but if you are a good coach at nebraska you attain godlike status...see osborne, devaney.
