Labels like "P5" are really a lousy way of looking at things. I mean they work for general conversation where you are doing ball park figure stuff, but as far as making actual stats based on the label, it's a terrible way to determine the strength of schedule.

Shows pretty well in SoS metrics as well. As the Big12 by this method seemingly plays "tough games" and passes the testicle test, but in stats based SoS metrics, outside Oklahoma the opposite is pretty much true.

There's a gazillion different SOS formulas. P5 conferences have the most money, more money = better facilities, etc.. There's some solid G5 teams such as Cincy and Boise St. but those are few and far between.

There are like 64 P5 teams. There is a huge difference between the #1 team and the #64 team - and #64 is the best case scenario for a P5 team, in reality it's more like:

#117 - Kansas.
#103 - Illinois
#101 - Iowa St
#95 - Purdue
etc.

I think iowa state is getting a bit of a bad rep. They did lose to UNI and got thrashed by Iowa and TCU. But they played Baylor and OK state tough and could easily have won both or either. Campbell has them improving it seems.

Iowa St. plays a 9 game conference schedule plus Iowa every year. There's no shame to their game.

While you are correct that there's a big discrepancy between the top and bottom of the P5, they're still bigger schools with better athletes. Even the MAC can be difficult to handle.. just ask Ok. State.

Schools like Kansas, Illinois, Syracuse, Iowa State, Rutgers, Oregon State, Vanderbilt, etc. really know how to take the "Power" out of "Power 5".
Oregon St. played in the Alamo Bowl just a few years back.

Get some new material. U Dub is good again, go with that :)
You do know why the SEC and ACC avoid playing their own conference members don't ya? :)

This way they get one more patsy to pad their schedule.

TL;DR, so I'm just going to go ahead and assume the SEC won again.

Illinois played in the Heart of Zaxby's Bowl two years ago but they sure look like butt nowadays.
Didn't they just hire Lovie Smith? Do you honestly think a team from say the MWC has the same bankroll to go out and pay mega bucks for a coaching staff and facilities. I mean let's get real here.
