I know I haven't posted in awhile, or even much, but just going to think out loud after today's game.

  1. Giants are 0-2 and haven't looked very good.
  2. Dallas just lost Romo, although the extent of his injury is unknown. Cox fell on his shoulder on a sack/fumble. Add in the fact Bryant is out for who knows how long. (Romo was seen saying it's broken, in reference to probably his collarbone)
  3. Eagles O looks like a joke. They can't run the ball to save their life and might actually have -rushing yards for the game.
With that being said, we weren't given a chance last week and most thought today was a guarantee loss after the way the Rams played against Sea last week. Even in the loss, we dominated Mia last week, albeit from a couple miscues and ST blunder, and did the same today against StL. Now both games were at home, so playing on the road next week against a divisional opponent, although against an 0-2 NYG team, will be a true test.

The point of all this...Even after losing a winnable game against Mia, the division is wide open after 2 weeks. It's extremely early, and with everything mentioned above, we have a fighting chance. Most 'experts' and fans predicted 6 wins at most. If we can take this game plan and bottle it up, avoid injuries, we can shock the world. I know this is on the high end of an optimistic win, but we looked better today, besides the start of the 2nd half, than we have in a long time.

Hopefully the physical nature on both sides of the ball shows up Thurs in NY. Keep this going....HAIL!!!!

As I watched the Boys/Eagles that resembled a bad preseason game I was thinking how bad this division is and how we could actually have a chance in it. That is amazing.

I was in a good mood all evening yesterday, forgot what that was like. I still have a few concerns: we have to get better on offense in the 2nd half, special teams are bad when they do nothing yesterday and we are relieved they played to a tie, defense needs to create turnovers and the passing game needs more bigger plays. But Callahan has done wonders, this team is TOUGH, Kirk has played OK to good, and we are controlling the LOS on both sides. Now we get all our corners back for the first time and that is big.

Don't forget the penalties. We almost had a repeat performance of week 1. If we don't get that issue under control, it will come back to bite us again.

I was about to commnt how penalties are a league wide problem. I watched a lot of different games yesterday and flags were everywhere.

Who would have thought with the injuries at our TE position that 2 games in we'd be seeing 3 TE sets? Callahan and McLovin - well done

NFC East uncertainty could lead to opportunity for Redskins — espn.go.com — Readability

Excerpt

Instead, the Redskins won, and now the world -- or at least the NFC East -- looks a lot different. Let’s not go crazy about a 1-1 record or a 24-10 win over the St. Louis Rams, a team that has a tendency to beat good teams and follow them with losses.

But the NFL is crazy, and now Dallas will be without quarterback Tony Romo because of a fractured clavicle and the Eagles look lost and the Giants are 0-2. The Redskins aren’t the team in a big mess. That, alone, is cause for celebration in Ashburn.

New York Giants in a Thursday night game.

This time, they’re encouraged by their win over the Rams and get the Giants again Thursday. This game will reveal whether Sunday was an aberration or the start of something. But it beats the alternative.

Where do I begin. Props to Gruden for sticking to his guns and going with his guy.

Cousins had a very good game. He gets it out so quick. His arm is stronger than he gets credit for. The check downs, the accuracy, moving around in the pocket. Just a very good performance from a guy that doesn't even have 16 starts under his belt. I imagine he will only get better.

Jones and Morris! My God. Having one of these guys fresh at all times is almost unfair. Jones is dynamic. Ball security for both of these guys is key though. Scot strikes again!

What Callahan has done to this line in one camp is amazing. Trent had his way with Quinn for the most part. Lauvao and Lich were monsters in the run game. Scherff and Moses might have answered my question. They might be for real.

Reed is an absolute BALLER! This is a completely different offense with him in the lineup. Potential to be a top 5 TE.

The receiving corps is missing Jax. Thought they were solid, but nothing more. I suspect this is Roberts last year in a Skins uniform.

The lack of a pass rush is concerning, but Barry is only sending 4 or 5 so it is what it is. We stole a week with Culliver out. Hall got caught peaking at Austin and got burnt, but was very good the rest of the way and is still one of our best tacklers.

I suspect Trent and Goldson will get tested Thursday. That is who I will be watching Thursday. We're going to find out where we stand back there real quick.

ST coverage was good. Way is struggling. Crowder could use a little help up front on PR and Hopkins has a leg on him. His FG's sure do move around a lot. Could be a problem as the weather changes and wind picks up. But I have liked this kid for a while and wanted the Skins to draft him.

Overall, so far so good for Barry. #1 Defense and rushing attack after two games. That is a recipe for a lot of wins. We'll see. This is about Kirk and the run game though. They believe in him. He is sustaining drives which is giving the D breathers.

A win Thursday would have FedEx sounding like RFK for that Eagles game. Damn this feels good. No expectations on my part, just enjoying the wins as they come. HTTR

I am so frustrated that we only see a handful of calls like this all game. What are the coaches afraid of? Let Kirk win some of these games instead of praying he doesn't lose them.

Let him go slow for now. I love Cousins, loved when Mike drafted him. He is only 11 starts into his career. He has two new lineman that have played well but are still learning too. If he is going to be a good QB he will continue to grow. Right now the D and running game are his friends while he gets game experience and learns to be an even better QB. He will have some games where he gets let out of the barn. I'll be wearing my Cousins jersey every game. :thumb:

Really great column from Tom Boswell

Excerpt

For the past two years, FedEx Field has often been a scene of moaning or even mockery of the home team — by its own fans or invading visiting fans. On Sunday, in the fourth quarter, after a 17-0 lead had been cut to 17-10, Cousins got consecutive third-down conversions on precise throws over the middle — both “check downs,” not primary receivers, according to Gruden.

With Washington in field goal range and the clock inside six minutes, the crowd of 72,460, too fretful to yell for much of the day, finally found its voice. FedEx sounded like a normal NFL stadium cheering for a victory.

That’s “one.” And only one. In four days, everything changes, again. But for three hours, the team in burgundy and gold looked like it had an idea, a plan, even the beginnings of an identity. Hold the hysteria. But hope, in small dosages, is prescribed.

Am I the only one liking the fact that we had more OFFENSIVE snaps than Defensive snaps??
According to stats, outside of last weeks MNF, our D has spent the least time on the field through 2 games. Gives them an opportunity to stay fresh and hungry.

Couple of things Matt Jones needs to clean up. Ball handling and STs. Better yet, maybe remove him from STs to keep him fresh.
