Bob just needs to come out and say mixon is suspended until this mess is cleared up. In the unlikely case he is not charged, reinstate. The second he is arrested though, he needs to be gone.

I honestly think Stoops' biggest concern right now is how to handle this thing so the players he is recruiting in the future feel he is a fair coach. The players already at OU know he is fair. But recruiting can be affected by a lot of things.....especially how he handles a situation like this. Parents, coaches and players will look back on this some day and have a strong opinion one way or the other.

She gets up and starts making racist comments directed at mixon. She pushed him twice, he still didn't react then she slapped him and he then cold clocked her.

This whole thread has a whole bunch of stupid in it, but I think you took the cake. I would say 130 LB girl is defenseless vs 210 LB Football recruit. No need to defend an indefensible act. Either he is innocent or he is not, we will find out in due time. Trying to rationalize it is just weak. Men do not hit women.

So what is the latest on this story??? Can't seem to find anything that is solid. Did the chick hit him first? Why are the police waiting to charge Mixon? Are they planning to charge the girl too? All I keep seeing is conflicting reports of he said she said stuff. Mixon apparently is only talking through his lawyer (smart). The girl appears to be talking to anyone that will call her from the media. (not smart). If the video evidence is clear about who the aggressor was wouldn't the charges have been filed today?

Well let's apply what she and her friends (witness) themselves have said. She's stated that one of her friends that was there told her "she slapped him" first. There is also a witness (friend of hers) that stated he punched her. A one and done. Multiple punches has not been alleged by anyone. The PD has the tape.

He could have lost his balance, fallen, and hit his head causing brain damage, The head is not an area to play around with.

Per her very friends statements he threw ONE punch. That is not more force than reasonably necessary.
As an athlete, Mixon relies on vision and hearing. He has every right to protect those functions from an attacker. He was being struck in the face and he struck back in the face. His action to stop it was "proportionate to the apparent danger".

Had he continued being physical after the one punch and after immobilizing his attacker he would have been using force greatly disproportionate to the apparent danger .

I assume these are the issues the PD and DA are deciding.
If it were clear cut, there'd have already been a warrant for his arrest. It's their responsibility to get a dangerous person off the street.

Keep in mind the DA has his/her hands full here. Can they get a jury conviction based on the laws above in Norman, OK against a football player?
If they're not absolutely sure they can get that conviction they likely won't prosecute. If they don't prosecute they risk rustling the pant-suits on some victim-card carrying women's group with double standards regarding people striking each other. "He's a man, they hit harder, a man should never strike a woman, Oklahoma is saying it's ok to strike women, etc...".

Other options is the DA could charge only her with assault. Charge both with assault. Charge both with disturbing the peace.

At a minimum, I would charge both with disturbing the peace.

Dang, you know little about the law. The charges have to go a Grand Jury and get an indictment before a trial can take place.

If they don't get a chance to or take a plea bargain, they will eventually face trial. Book it.

1) we don't know if she was a "victim". Not enough facts and info yet.

2) I don't see where anyone said a fight between this girl and Mixon would've been a fair fight, but that's not really the point. Would it be a fair fight if you went and sucker punched Brock Lesnar and he one times your ass?

I'm with you on being raised to never hit a woman and I wouldn't but I've seen some cray cray bitches looking to get a quick jab because they think they can do or say whatever they want with no consequences because of their gender. Throw in alcohol and you've got a mess on your hands.

That's exactly right. Frankly, I'd do my damnedest to remove myself from a situation like that because there's no way you come out looking good. But I've learned that you never say never.
