Speed matters in the NFL . Hopefully the new coaches use Turp more. If I remember correctly the late 90's Rams had a small fast receiver and they seemed to involve him quite a bit. I got to blame Jerry. Either that or McCarthy was real dumb
I think Mac's offense had grown too predictable and he wasn't willing to change or add. I think Schotty is going to utilize more of what Dak likes and is good at instead of saying "this is my offense, run it". Let's be honest, the Pickens trade changed everything, it's why I wanted Warren, and it didn't have to be a TE, it could have been Tet McMillan, but Pickens is a jackpot. Another #1 WR that opens things up and I think Turpin could have a monster year because of it

I love the guy, but I just don't think Turpin at 5'9", 153lbs is going to be more than a #4 gadget guy on most plays. That doesn't mean we shouldn't be using him a lot more than we have in the past, because I do think we should and I do think his explosiveness underneath can turn small plays into big plays and even more so when you have two big time WRs who command the attention of the defense. But what I mean is I'd be surprised to see him out there often in 3 WR sets. CeeDee lines up a lot in the slot on 3rd downs and you really can't be throwing to Turpin too far outside the hash marks at his size very often. Plus we are going to use a lot of 2 TE sets and even on 3rd and long Ferguson is going to be on the field.

As a team we had 398 receptions last year. The year before was 428 so let's use 430 because Dak played all year. CeeDee (125) and Pickens (85) probably 210? RBs 70? TEs 100? That leaves 50 for the #3 and 4 WRs and everyone other WR. Obviously these are made up numbers but just as a WAG ball park guess. Let's say we have even more than 2023 which would be pushing it, I think we are looking at Tolbert and Turpin both in the 30 range? Probably more receptions for Tolbert though than Turpin because he is more likely t play in 2 WR sets. Or maybe Turpin takes some of those RB receptions away. But, I think you guys are going to be disappointed with the number of receptions he gets this year based on how you are talking.

What I was surprised with was he only had 16 carries last year. I thought it would have been much more than that. I'd think it would be double that because his speed and quickness and ability to turn the corner on that jet sweep is so tough on a defense

Turpin may be the fastest player in thr league. He is a tough cover for any corner without help. With Pickens in the fold, he will draw a lot of single coverage against weak corners. I think he could have the same number of touches, but more explosive plays, if used properly. To me, Tolbert is a JAG...Just a guy

I think Pickens makes the Offense much more dangerous. I hope though he is not a one year rental. I hope they sign him before the end of the season. I think it is an underrated trade. A lot of teams don't like the diva types so there is a chance they are able sign him. IMO Tolbert is JAG. Rather than extend Tolbert I say they give Tolbert and even Ferguson's money to Pickens. I got to admit I was liking what Spann Ford was doing last season. I liked it very much.

I get what you are saying about Turp due to his size But I believe he can be the 3rd best option off the bench. Put him in the slot. They can also put him out wide when Lamb is in the slot. It's about creating mismatches, which McCarthy was horrible at doing. The trade for Pickens will be huge. Teams that continue to double and bracket Lamb are going to regret it. Pickens also has never played with someone as good as Lamb. They could win a shootout this season.

If Pickens behaves, he would be a priority extension for me. If you're giving the QB $60M, give him weapons. Keep him here the next 3-4 years with Dak and Lamb

Exactly. Turpin needs to run slants, seams, posts, crossers...anything that gets him in space and forces someone to run with him

I agree with you guys on his explosiveness, but It's just not that easy to hit a guy 5'9" running 100 mph straight across the field and especially if there is a LBer (or DL if shallow) in front of him and a DB behind him. Then he has to survive the play if you throw to 10 times per game. And anything downfield needs to be over the top of a much bigger DB and hit him in stride. Again his speed makes it possible for hm to get 2, 3 even 4 steps on his guy, but it's a tough pass to complete consistently. Your predictions sound like you are expecting like 80 receptions. Damn would love it if it happened. I'd be over the moon, but...

Not 80 catches, maybe 40-45, but 700-750 yards. Most of his plays last year were within 5 yards of scrimmage, despite the fact that he had great success on downfield routes. I just dont get throwing him one seam route, gaining 40 yards on it...and then he never runs another all season. Mind boggling to me
