More Wins?

The Raiders or, 49ers.

Did Kaepernick retire? That's the only way that I see the 49ers winning more games.

Wow didn't think I would be so much in the minority on this. I think if there was one team that can actually absorb so many retirements it is the 49ers. They have had a ton of picks over the last few years and this is where they have to see that pay off. Coaching staff is probably my biggest question with them.

The Raiders I guess I just can't believe in them yet. JaMarcus Russell put up better numbers his first full year starting than Carr did this past year. Not sure why people are seeing this great franchise quarterback in him. Throw in the guy has already shown he could be heading down the path of Bradford in always having some kind of injury. I just see him having a terrible Sophomore year and the Raiders really struggling because of it.

I'll roll with the 49ers. Kaep is a better quarterback than anything coming out of Oakland since Rich freaking Gannon. It's been a long time since the Raiders had a quarterback. I'm fairly sure Derek Carr, Christian Ponder or Matt McGloin are not going to make us forget about Jim Plunkett or Ken Stabler anytime soon.

I don't think you can defend that objectively. The numbers are pretty close, but Russell only has a slight edge in one or two smallish areas. Passer Rating is similar, but Carr has a clear leg up in QBR. Either way, I'm not so sure the comparison is even relevant. Russell was so bad in year #3 that he never played in the league again. That doesn't seem remotely close to the trajectory Carr is on.

To answer the poll question, to me the teams are going in opposite directions. Last year the Raiders played many top teams really tough even though the win totals may not reflect it. Even in Seattle after being down by 21 at half time, Oakland came back and made a game of it. Played the Pats tough too. Meanwhile, the 49ers clearly fell off in 2014 and seem to have lost ground on every team in their division this off-season in just about every imaginable way. It's a close call, but I'll take the team that seems to be on the rise vs the one that's declining, so gimme the Raiders in this one.

I wish you made this poll visible to all. I'd like to know who the 7 delusional 9er fans are.

Hmm, this is surprisingly tough. I think the 9ers will still go 6-12, but the Raiders 5-11.... it's close though. Raiders are just too far away from the trenches and 49ers have imploded.

Only the Titans will lose more games than the 49ers.

Didn't know the Niners played 18 games.
