The facepalms are for not understanding that both liberal and conservatives are guilty of name calling. I am not talking abut you exclusively and I am not talking about everyone. I believe there are people that said stupid things to you but I also believe that there are liberal extremists who do the same thing.

Again it was not simple name calling, and I agree that goes both ways equally. That's not the topic. The topic is many Trump folks see anti-Trump comments and label the poster a liberal, in my case I have been called a hard core lib who supports that agenda and a Hillary lover when neither are true based entirely on my Trump comments. Again this is a pattern I have seen from the Trump crowd and it is very real as I've experienced.

We saw it with Dad earlier in the thread. A poster has certain views that would be considered liberal and suddenly he is labeled a liberal, as if that's a bad word, when he holds many conservative views.

I did not mean every Trump guys have done this, but enough to show a pattern. A pattern Dad has demonstrated which brought about my comment.

As for Trump I've already said enough for you to know where I stand on him regarding his policies and what I think of him personally. As for some of my other positions I have posted many comments with middle of the road positions. I think the $15/hour minimum wage is a terrible idea, never been a big fan of the ACA. I thought removing the Confederate statues was also a terrible idea, I believe George Zimmerman was innocent and am disgusted that they put a statue in Ferguson to honor a thug. I think most of what I hear out of the mouth of AOC is complete nonsense, I am in full support of the 2nd Amendment and have never posted an anti-gun comment, just think we need to have smarter laws concerning background checks and I have questioned the need to own rifles that can fire 30 rounds. I am also informed enough to know an AK is not an "assault rifle"

I own several other middle of the road positions but on the Politics Board the Trump Cult members consider me some hard core liberal based on nothing more than my comments on Trump.

I think Dad’s issue is the hypocrisy.

So what do you propose on background checks?

So DGF thinks just like me on alot of issues. It’s comforting in knowing that I don’t live alone on my logical island.

My position on back ground checks is this. We need tuff checks but really in a sense its pointless. The vast majority of these checks will be done on honest and responsible citizens such as myself and probably all others on this board. Until they start coming down hard on the parents or guardian of these kids who have easy access to the guns in their home; school shootings will continue, but even then guns will find there way into the hands of the nut jobs.

So in regards to gun ownership and permit status theres no easy answer, or any that will appease everyone. However, a great place to start would be to not allow people to obtain military type weaponry that can kill lots of people quickly. It’s just not needed in any home.

And you are a Liberal 2nd Amendment hating un American.... just like that. :pound::pound:

Seriously though, on this we agree. High rate of fire weapons have no place in the hands of civilians as the only purpose for these types of guns is mass casualties.

Oh please. Spare us with them we are angels and they are devils. That is just not true of either side extremists as mentioned by j_y.

That's exactly our (or at least my) point.

The problems in this country arent exclusive to one side.

It's the people that sit on the extremes guided by emotions and partisanship rather than facts or logic to guide they're decisions and beliefs. The people who are ok believing made up stories or who will believe any story as long as it makes their political opponents look bad. The people who will call anybody who isn't as extreme as them a socialist or a white supremacist.

It just so happens that in this thread the crazy is mostly coming from one side. I'm well aware that that's not the case everywhere. Hell I've been called some pretty wild things by people on the left who thought I was supporting or encouraging Trump.

The reality is that people like skinsdad and reptec (and others) are just like the people I don't take seriously on the left. I don't not take them seriously because they're right wing. I don't take them seriously because they don't make serious arguments. And I'm happy to call them out on that and do the same when their far left counterparts do the same.

I am definitely guilty of calling a spade a spade, if that’s what the republicans on here think I’ve done.

That’s mostly because Republicans tend to spend a majority of time living in fear, stoking fear and hatred, and dividing people based on fear, and hate.

Case in point: these people.

Republicans need to read more about true heroes like American patriot, AOC, and read more from actual news sources like the Washington Post, New York Times, and the Huffington Post, and spend less time fearing brown people, fearing people of any color other than white people, and actually caring about their fellow man instead of pretending to care about them.

As MLK so boldly stated:
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Republican lemmings: you’re welcome.

Finally, nobody in their right mind is as obnoxiously liberal as I claim to be in my previous post.

Can any of you apparently incredibly ignorant republicans say the same?

Doubt it.

Too funny. So me, dad, gkek and others cant be taken seriously because we are Trump supporters. Could it be that we are just supporters of the office of the president. Id rather much be on this side of the coin than the one who would give their left nut if only a bomb could just drop on Trumps watch. If the economy could just crash on Trumps watch. If war could just break out on Trumps watch. That logic makes no sense to me. I dunno,, call me ignorant but I would think that everyone would want any president to succeed and not just the ones from their party. Seriously though.. to me thats ignorance at its finest... to hope for terrible things just to say “there ya go”..

Depends on what you want said President to succeed at.

For me, when a President is putting kids in cages, trying to repeal a law that would strip 10-30% of the country of health insurance because he doesnt like the nick name of the law, and that President gives cover to people who want to divide the country... No I dont want him ti succeed in those efforts. Its awesome that rich folks are making more money and all that. But the world Trump envisions and that his followers support, is not really a world I want my grandkids to grow up in as second class citizens... or more likely unwanted residents.

You have to stop with the whole cage thing. It happened under Obamas watch too. Its just magnified under Trump because the media has their agenda. Dude, im pretty certain the only good thing about Obamacare was the name.. thinking the Pres had other reasons than a dislike for the name. Listen.. the People dividing the country are the media and their biased news reporting that trickles down to the puppets who watch and believe. im still waiting for an example of racism other than his “they’re murderers and rapist and drug dealers who are crossing the border” that was spun way to the left.. or “we need to ban Muslims” that was spun way to the left... basically, I would love to hear about one act of racism from the guy that wasnt spun.

1. It magnified under Trump because he wanted it to.

2. Before the Affordable Care act was passed, someone with a chronic illness could not switch jobs because if they did, the new insurance company could either deny them coverage, or over charge them because they switched coverage. Now if you have never had to deal with that, great. But I kinda of liked the fact that someone close to me didn't have to pass up a better job and risk losing health coverage because they suffer from kidney failure which before the ACA would mean they would lose coverage if it was determined a pre-existing condition.

3. The people dividing the country are those who are supporting things like stop and frisk, family separation, and concepts of trying to make America the 1950s again.

1950’s? again.. you gotta stop. To think Trumps MAGA means to get blacks to the back of the bus again is as stupid as believing AOC is an American hero. Hitting the sack but I know we both would love to see a better America where everyone is treated equal. Lets just hope one day the people of America can support a president in unison. Peace.

@Darrell Green Fan .....there you go. He is not alone.

It's as if you guys still don't get my point. It's very simple. I have a seen a pattern from the right that is pretty clear. If someone has one or a few opinions that are considered liberal that person is automatically branded as a liberal on all other issues when that is simply not the case in many instances. These posts don't really address that point.

Pretty sure we are all smart enough to understand your point and disagree that this is only done by Trump supporters. Our position is it is done by both sides so I guess we agree with you in part. Maybe you don't understand out point. Chill has yet to come on this thread and call everyone that does not believe in what he believes ignorant Republicans. Is everyone who considers themselves a Republican ignorant or just ignorant in Chills mind.

I have replied to several of your threads and have not yet categorized you by any name or ideology. So I will say it again. There are extremists on both sides of the fence. These people seem to want to call folks names. So as you can see I am agreeing with you about name calling, all I am saying is it goes both ways.

If you understood my point you would have addressed it. Again my claim was not that there is mud slinging on only one side, of course that goes both ways. It's not that if you disagree with said position you are ignorant. No the point was the right seems to follow a pattern of lumping people as liberals simply because they hold certain liberal views while retaining conservative or in my case moderate positions on other issues. I never claimed it is done by every Trump supporter, I'm just pointing out a clear pattern that I have seen from the right and a pattern I have not seen from the left nearly as often.

I can't be any more clear about what I am saying. . If you still don't get it you just ain't gonna get it.

I really don't think either side is going to get together and sing kumbaya. LOL

Sadly we have the same problem in our government. We have become a government of stagnation. Once side says "let's do this" and the other side say "not happening." We are governing by executive order and now in the courts. Our politicians are two faced hypocrites. They say things to get elected yet never live those lives or really work for the betterment of everyone.

Every work day I ride past the Capital twice, I get all US proud … then I remember the clowns … on both sides inside there and laugh to myself. We need term limits.
