I think both sides are pushing the "you don't know what you are talking about" … name calling etc.

Once upon a time we used to all be Americans. Well except for the illegal ones … :pound:…. just kidding, just kidding … a little humor can go a longggg way. At least until the liberal/deplorables get their butt up in the air.

Once upon a time no American would be seen wearing a tee shirt that reads "I'd rather be Russian than a Democrat (or Republican)". They are available online so there is obviously a demand. Pretty disgusting if you ask me and another example of how divided we have become. Sure it increased with Obama but it's far worse now under Trump. Marriages are ending, sibblings no longer talk, friendships are over all because of the man in the White House.

I'm sure they exist but I sure didn't read any stories about this happening when Obama was in office. Pretty safe bet this did not happen at the current level. Anyone who can't see how we have become much more divided once Trump showed on the scene is in denial.

I'm the same way. I am not conservative but middle of the road, hardly a hard core liberal, on many issues. But for some reason when the Trump supporters see us making ant-Trump comment they label us all radical liberals.

That tells me which side is thinking rationally and which side is not.
You guys are doing the same thing you are complaining about them doing. Labeling all with one broad stroke. I am like you guys. I am on the conservative side, albeit socially moderate, and definitely not a Trump fan and will not vote for him again. I've made this known often to all that ask. But I also recognize that our laws, procedures, and rights are there to protect you and me. While I would have no issue with Trump being bounced, the facts must warrant it and we can't have one witch hunt after another. And the facts are that the Mueller report was, at best, inconclusive on Trump questionable activities. How do I know this? Simple. If there were any chance of nailing Trump, Pelosi and crew would already be all over it. It would be the only story on a 24 hour news cycle. So what they will do is make claims, threats, and other useless actions and then nothing will happen. That is because they have nothing. This doesn't mean trump is not a slimeball. He is. He is not the leader I want representing me. But if the Dems want Trump gone, they are going to have to beat him in an election. And from what I have seen so far in who they are offering up, I don't see that happening.

I don't know everyone's background but I am ex-military. The President of the US is my president, whether I agree with his policies or not. We went in the military for the good of everyone, not one part or another, not one color or another etc. I don't think it is my responsibility or right to tell others what to think. That is your (generic) right as an American. I sure would love it if there was a lot more we in our conversations and a lot less you. (generic also) :suds:

Well IM just going to say it like this.

1. A libertarian is nothing more than a Republican in denial.

2. Folks that say they wont vote for Trump again, but also say they wont vote for any of the Democratic candidates, are basically saying they will probably vote for Trump again.

3. The line I dont like Trump, but I like his policies is a cop out. Because Trump the person is Trump the policy.. you cant really separate the two.

I can separate the two very easily. Sound policy I could support with any President. Just because I wanted Obama gone doesn’t mean that he didn’t enact some good policies. Same with Trump. The problem with too many nowadays is everything is black and white. But reality is that most things are shades of grey. You can dislike a man and still think he has some good ideas.

1- Exactly...a libertarian is against government intervention in our lives.

2- I won’t vote for a democrat because their policies are hypocritical and murderous.

3- You can absolutely separate the two. Trump is an asshole. His policy on enforcing immigration law is a good thing. His policy regarding taxes is a good thing. His effort at justice reform is a good thing. Not one of them has anything to do with Trump...they are policies.

Not at all. Feel free to criticize Trump. Speak on policy though and figure out where you stand.

I'll write something about Trump's "policies" or lack of the same after the draft.

What does all of this have to do with my comment? I was discussing how the Trump folks tend to label anyone who make any anti-Trump comments as liberals, or in my case hard case liberals. We've seen it in this thread. I said nothing of Mueller and all the other things you are commenting on here.

As for the next election if they are smart and don't nominate a hard core lib who will alienate a lot of critical people on the fence they have a great chance to defeat a President with a 40% approval rating. There is huge push back, the mid-terms clearly showed that. Trump won't be running against the 2016 Cleveland Brows this time, a better candidate will emerge.

I did not mean every Trump guys have done this, but enough to show a pattern. A pattern Dad has demonstrated which brought about my comment.

As for Trump I've already said enough for you to know where I stand on him regarding his policies and what I think of him personally. As for some of my other positions I have posted many comments with middle of the road positions. I think the $15/hour minimum wage is a terrible idea, never been a big fan of the ACA. I thought removing the Confederate statues was also a terrible idea, I believe George Zimmerman was innocent and am disgusted that they put a statue in Ferguson to honor a thug. I think most of what I hear out of the mouth of AOC is complete nonsense, I am in full support of the 2nd Amendment and have never posted an anti-gun comment, just think we need to have smarter laws concerning background checks and I have questioned the need to own rifles that can fire 30 rounds. I am also informed enough to know an AK is not an "assault rifle"

I own several other middle of the road positions but on the Politics Board the Trump Cult members consider me some hard core liberal based on nothing more than my comments on Trump.

Tell that to the group who are wearing tee shirts that said they support Russia over other fellow Americans. I'm not the one to create this divide, just commenting on it.

I should have been clearer. You claim that trump supporters label anyone critical as liberal. My point is twofold. First, I have been critical of the President on this forum numerous times and have never been labeled as liberal. Second, by claiming that all trump supporters do one thing to another, you are doing the exact same thing that some of the trump supporters on here do. Paint them all with the same brush.

I think the difference is that I have been critical of the President based on proof of what he has actually done, not based on what the media or his opponents might wish he has done.

As for who the Dems put up to run against Trump, I hope you are right and do agree with you. I believe there is a huge swath of on the fence voters that could be swayed to go with a democratic (or independent) candidate. I know I am one. But if the slate of candidates that have declared so far is representative of who the Dems will offer, then Trump will get 4 more years.

Really? Read some of Chiller's posts.

You have to realize that forums like this tend to attract those on the extremes. But that doesn't mean that all, or even a majority, have the same positions as Dad or Chiller, as examples.

No doubt it's not the majority but there is a very clear pattern. I'm not here enough to know of Chiler's work, I'm speaking of the other politics boards I have been visiting for years. And the pattern is just as I described it, rarely if ever demonstrated by liberals but done all the time by the Trump folks.

Why the face palms guys? Do I really need to explain that you have not seen the posts I have directed at me and other liberals on the other boards I participate on? Posts I have never seen from libs although I have not seen the posts from Chiller but I sure saw Dad's.

If you don't believe me then you obviously have not spent any time on the Politics board here.

The facepalms are for not understanding that both liberal and conservatives are guilty of name calling. I am not talking abut you exclusively and I am not talking about everyone. I believe there are people that said stupid things to you but I also believe that there are liberal extremists who do the same thing.
