Early Doucet - WR - Free Agent

Seahawks released WR Early Doucet.

Doucet was signed only five days ago, but had practiced just once due to "unidentified injuries." It's safe to assume he would have lasted at least one preseason game on the roster had he been healthy. Doucet's 2012 was marred by injury, including concussion issues. Considering his dead silent market before Seattle came calling, Doucet could have a hard time finding a new home.

Cardinals have a lot of guys battling at the CB position. I'm keeping my eye on that cut date

Pats cut Michael Jenkins. That's pretty bad he couldn't even make the team on that weak WR corps. Just goes to show what I've been saying for years: never draft a WR named Jenkins in the first round.

Nah. I'm holding out for the remote possibility of Santonio Holmes getting cut & the Niners renting him for a year. That'd be sweet.

you know, given our current status at WR, I couldn't be against that... don't like him, comes off as a jerk but he plays... thats for sure...

We need bandaids or surgery at WR?

Jason Smith - T - Free Agent

Saints released LT Jason Smith.

The Saints brought in Smith to push Charles Brown for the starting job on Drew Brees' blindside. It never happened. Third-round rookie Terron Armstead will serve as Brown's backup, as Smith heads back to the street. The No. 2 overall pick of the Rams in the 2009 draft has now been cut by two teams in the last six months. Smith is one of the biggest busts in the history of the league.

Well sign him up! He can be the jumbo tight end like I hoped in the first place.

Chaz Schilens - WR - Free Agent

Lions released WR Chaz Schilens, CB Domonique Johnson, OT Derek Hardman, DL John Drew, and DB Ross Weaver.

Schilens, 27, is clearly on his last NFL legs. Johnson made some waves early in camp by shutting down Mike Thomas in practice, though Thomas was also cut.

Kenny Phillips - DB - Free Agent

Eagles released S Kenny Phillips.

Phillips was the 31st overall pick in the 2008 draft. While he's flashed All Pro-type ability in the rare instances he's been healthy, Phillips has not been the latter much over the past several seasons. Another team will likely give Phillips one more shot, but he's running out of time despite only being 26.

Aaron Curry - LB - Free Agent

Giants released LB Aaron Curry.

The former No. 4 overall pick in the draft continues to prove himself a total bust. The most telling sign for Curry's roster chances was that he was a bubble player who didn't even earn significant preseason snaps.

Kyle Moore - DL - Free Agent

Bears released DE Kyle Moore and S Tom Zbikowski.

Moore was signed to a one-year contract in April, a year after starting seven games and registering three sacks for the Bills. He was competing for the No. 4 defensive end job in Chicago, but lost out to rookie Cornelius Washington. Zbikowski had been working with the third- and fourth-team defenses.

Donte' Stallworth - WR - Free Agent

Redskins released WR Donte' Stallworth.

The veteran deep threat missed a bunch of August with an early-camp hamstring issue, and we noticed the writing on the wall when Stallworth was playing with third-teamers in Washington's third preseason game. Injuries limited Stallworth to only one game with the Patriots last season. Stallworth can still turn on the jets, but does little else. Going on 33, he has just 42 catches over the past five seasons. He's very near the end of the line.

Braylon Edwards - WR - Free Agent

Jets released WR Braylon Edwards.

Edwards was in the middle of a workmanlike camp before going down with a leg injury last week. He missed Saturday's regular season dress rehearsal, sealing his fate. Edwards was outlasted on the roster by UDFA WR Ryan Spadola, which can't be a good sign for his future. On the wrong side of 30 and three years removed from his last worthwhile campaign, Edwards is near the end.

Lawrence Jackson - DL - Free Agent

Vikings released DE Lawrence Jackson.

Jackson, 28, was signed on draft weekend. The former first-round pick was trying to make it as the fourth or fifth end. The Vikings also waived WRs LaMark Brown, Chris Summers, and Erik Highsmith, OG Tyler Holmes, DE Marquis Jackson, LB Stanford Keglar, DB Greg McCoy, RB Bradley Randle, QB James Vandenberg, C Camden Wentz, RB Jerodis Williams, and DB Roderick Williams.
