:tea: GG 43. I know there were some shit calls but what else is new with these refs. Still will be an incredible series and this one is obviously far from over.

It's been like this the last few years. They play hockey all season for the chance to get into the playoffs and do whatever the fuck that was.

Crowd was insane, Team was motivated, and for all but 4 minutes of the game they made one of the best teams in hockey look like a minor league team.

Just gotta go for the jugular next time.

If they are allowed to, of course.

I really do agree with you 43. The reffing was just...well...it was bad. The irony being that I think it was probably to help the Jackets. Lord knows the Pens weren't going to do anything on the PP but be worried about shorthanded odd man breaks. I'm still consistently worried about this team. *MAYBE* that win sparks something consistent from them, buttttt...there's some big, big issues. I've never really been a person to question desire, because they're pro athletes, they're motivated by nature...but man, they just look lazy and/or lost out there some times. MAF's rebound control wasn't optimal, but the D/F did very little to help him clear the crease tonight. On the few PPs the Jackets had, MAF stood on his damn head.

Gotta say though, I really think Bob kept the Jackets afloat. There were a handful of really awful calls, but there were some they earned too...and even though the Pens are sucking at it currently, that's the second game where they've taken some silly penalties. I'm still nothing but impressed with how they've handled Sid/Geno. It's inevitable that those guys break through at some point, which does have me hopeful, because up to this point it's been depth carrying the team. And D scoring.

The refs have been different in each game, right? Because from basically puck drop in game 1 they've put themselves in the spotlight. Never seen a series special teams heavy.

How in the hell do you figure that?

The crowd was insane, the Jackets came out like gangbusters. The Penguins had dead legs and were afraid to handle the puck when the Jackets bore down on them. Fleury handled the puck so bad even Peirrburg McGuireguin criticized him. It was so bad they needed a timeout in the first 3 minutes. And over the next period and a half, they essentially got 5 more thanks to the stripes.

Had the Jackets not had to defend shorthanded for 10 of the next 25 minutes, by the time Oprick scored the Jackets could have been up by 3 or 4. Maybe more. The problem wasn't the impotent power play getting time. It was the fact the Jackets could not continue the march. And I am sure that the Jackets had it in their head that if they touched anyone, they got called so they laid back for that fateful four minutes.

That's why I feel cheated.

All hockey fans should feel cheated, too. Same with the Montreal mess from the night before.

JUST LET THEM PLAY. Let the teams decide it. Maybe the outcome doesn't change. But we'll never know that, will we?

Pens killed the BJ's on possession I did like that, something to build on. Need to do it again on Wed.

Very strange to me that Niskanen played the least amount of minutes 5v5 last night, only 10.

I'm not in favor of 'letting them play' that is what devolves the playoffs in 1990's version of clutch a grab-fest garage league, and it's terrible. But this series officiating has been pretty awful, I would agree there.

As soon as I saw that Dean Morton was one of the refs last night, I knew it was going to be bad officiating. What does it say when this guy makes the cut for playoff refs (i.e. there are worse refs than him in the league according to how the league grades zebras).

It was a joke about the pathetic nature of the Pens PP and how good the Jackets PK has been. We need a sarcasm font.

EDIT: Also, McGuire thing cracks me up...dude wears his Cup ring from '91. I completely agree with your points. Again, never seen a group of refs put themselves in the spotlight so prominently. LOOK! I HAVE A WHISTLE! TOOOOT TOOOOT!

So this series it's nothing more than one big god damn conspiracy against CBJ? I guess 43 won't be watching the rest of it.

btw, the zamboni driver's name is Phil Quinn...... aka Philburgh PenQuinn. He makes sure the ice is nice and shitty in the Jackets offensive zone

I hope the linesmen from the Anaheim/Dallas game 3 last night get the call for game 4 in C-Bus. The entire second period had one faceoff where somebody didn't get kicked out of the circles - the opening face off of the period.

This series deserves suspect officiating from all the zebras, not just the ones with the orange armbands.

Overall, with the exception of the Dubi attack in game one, and a few rare isolated incidents for each team, I think this has been a relatively cheap-shoot free series. When they are allowed to play, they are playing it hard and clean. I know that is a rarity nowadays.

It was a joke about the pathetic nature of the Pens PP and how good the Jackets PK has been. We need a sarcasm font.

My reaction wasn't necessarily aimed squarely at you either. I wonder if anyone would really honestly say that Jackets would not have swamped the Pens in that first period if not for the flow killers. Anyone? Obviously, it is sharp in my mind. And it seems that nowhere am I finding anyone outside a select few who are contradicting my assessment that the Jackets had control at first. Fleury was rattled and got a chance to settle down thanks to a series of highly suspect calls.

Ah, so two of the biggest homers on this board are against me, so I got that going for me, which is nice. If only the doobster could weigh in with his insightful analysis.

And the ice guy's name is Ian Huffman. I'll tell him you think he's a Penguins fan next time I see him.
