Point 2.....The entire world did not watch basketball in the 90's. Everyone in Chicago did so maybe that is where you are confused. NBA ratings in the 90's are the worst of any of the last 3 decades and the playoff ratings for LAST year were the 2nd highest of all time.

Soccer, cricket, tennis, volleyball, field hockey, baseball and golf are the only sports to have anytime resided in the top 5 for world ranking for most popular sports. Im sure you wil "disagree" there too but whatev.

Im basing it off pure fan numbers. Not percentage of how many countries rank basketball as there favorite. Basketball is dwarfed by the the top 5 sports in sheer fans, coming in 8th or 9th in all legit ranking ( also behind table tennis in most ranking.... LOL)

Also team sports dont include solo sports ( ie tennis, golf). To sum up basketball HAS NEVER EVER been even remotely close to a top 5 sport much less challenging soccer as the worlds most popular sport.
