The Phillies placed Antonio Bastardo, A.J. Burnett, Roberto Hernandez, Ryan Howard and Kyle Kendrick on revocable waivers, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reports ([ame=""]via Twitter[/ame]). The moves all took place on Saturday, so since the waiver period lasts 47 hours, we could know by today if any of the players were claimed. I’d expect Bastardo and Burnett to be claimed given that both drew significant interest before the July 31st deadline, and there is virtually no chance any team would claim Howard and risk being stuck with the roughly $68MM remaining on his contract.
I could see someone maybe taking Hernandez. Honestly, he has been better overall than Burnett this year and doesn't have a ridiculous 15 million dollar option like Burnett. I can't see anyone taking Kendrick with the year he's having, but then again someone actually took Blanton a couple years ago. If someone actually claimed Howard I'm sure they would sober up the next day and file a lawsuit like Leonard Tose did with the casinos.
