Shut up, stupid.
I'm genuinely not sure what he's done on the field that warrants this type of deal.

He was amazing in 2015, yes, but other than that the production doesn't add up.

Well yes, that was mostly tongue-in-cheek but the point stands that a lot of this is based off of hype rather than production.
2015 was so great, but, yeah, mostly a lot of hype otherwise. This guy had a WAR over 5 as a 19 year old rookie and mostly has not built on that....other than the MVP year.
Harper was a star even in high school...the reporters were already following him around then.
Saw Bryce in Fenway his rookie year and it seemed like he could be the greatest player in history. Trout still has that chance.

I can't believe no one will sign Keuchel

Me either, but pitchers and catchers reported 2 weeks ago.

He was on TV a few weeks ago talking about how he would shave his beard if necessary (clearly directed at one specific team)

It's nuts he's not signed,

Saying he's not worth a record-setting deal =\= saying he's not a great player.

Keuchel's 2018 wasn't very encouraging. Pedestrian strikeout rate and he saw his groundball rate dip, and his slider fell off last year.

Coming from a Pirates fan, this is kinda funny.

You're aware what the Yinzers did when Dave Parker was playing there, right?
In fairness, I'll never claim a large portion of Yinzers are the best and brighest. There's gobs of people who are Pittsburgh fans who make me shake my head for a variety of reasons.

And ruined the season hitting 1b wrong....even I know not to land flush on a base like that.
Should have had at least 120 rbi that year!

The extra 3 years will be his 37, 38, and 39 seasons. I guess he figured selling those seasons for 10M a year was just found money. Who cares about AAV when you are including nonproductive seasons.

plus, in 10 seasons the NL is going to have the DH anyway... and that will be a steal for them... Good job for harper to think about the phillies in 2030!!! he is commended!!!

Cool, the Phillies will now lose a bunch of games by scores like 13-10

Guy's trending towards a HOF career.

Do I think it's an overpay? Shit, yes. Do I hate the deal? No. You're getting a guy who's about to hit his baseball prime. In his last 4 years, he's averaging 32 homers, 31 doubles, a .283 average, .410 OBP, .542 SLG. Even if you average out his last 3, it's still 28, 29, .267, .391, .505.

I think the next 7 years will make up for the final 6.

the Soto/Robles vs. Harper narrative should be fun
