Franco gets hit on the wrist by Hellickson's inside pitch. Franco is taken out and replaced by Blanco. Howard singles and after an error in center, scores. 1-0 Phillies.

AZ loads the bases in the 2nd. Buchanan gives up a double over Ruf's and a single by Hellickson, and it's suddenly 4-1, AZ. Buchanan is not up to the task tonight.

Isn't this the year to find out who's ready for the MLs? Buchanan was 6-8 last year and 3.75. After 9 games this year, he was 7.23 and 2-6. Now at 9.00. A turn for the worse like Severino. He may be sent down for more seasoning soon.

Nothing about seasoning! If you've been watching him pitch...even last year, when he had a little bit of success, the guy doesn't have much. He simply does not have the talent to pitch in the majors.

Severino is the same way, not enough talent for the bigs. Phillies have been trying hard to convert future career minor league pitchers into starters in the big leagues. It just cannot be done.

Looks like all of the dumpster diving has produced some real gems.

Even Adam Morgan, 3-3, 4.06, is a question mark, especially coming back from shoulder surgery in '14. But all these young pitchers need more games, more time. It will be disappointing if neither Buchanan nor Morgan can find success. It's good that recent trades have yielded some potentially good young arms.

Check it out...all of these guys including Pettibone, were never projected higher than a #5. And that was the best case scenario! Good thing now is we acquired a few guys with much higher ceilings. Not to mention, Nola who should be a #1 or a #2.

morgan has potential as a strong #4-5. he was ready at age 22, but the phils opted to go the vet route because they were still trying to compete. then injuries started slamming him. the rest do kind of suck though. pettibone is the only one besides morgan who could probably be legit back end. i thought severino had a really good chance to be something because of his awesome control in the minors, but the scouts were right when they said none of his stuff is overpowering.

i'm not worried about pitching in the long run. CBP is built for power and OBP. it's how we made our run and how we need to make the next one. it's how we've been winning games after the break.

i'm pretty jacked knowing we have franco at 3rd, crawford at short, hernandez at 2nd, 2 outfielders with some power in altherr/williams and 2 catchers in knapp/alfaro. there are others, but these kids obviously stick out.
