His father was before my time but I've heard his name before. I guess for you (who is older and more irrelevant than me) it's probably like when you heard other Phillies fan (who were even older and more irrelevant than you are) talking about the way Curt Simmons used to pitch.

Didn't Bedrosian win a Cy Young as a relief pitcher in '87? I think he had like 8 or 9 wins coming out of the bullpen that year too. Or am I thinking of someone else?
Yeah the weird thing is they actually had a few good closers on those awful mid 80's teams. Bedrosian won a Cy Young with the Phillies on a team that I think was way out of first place. They also had Al Holland (Mr T, for another reference you won't get) who was good. And another guy named Willlie Hernandez who was good with the Phillies but they traded him and he ended up winning all the awards for the Tigers the next year. Cy Young, MVP, and they won the World Series. I guess Schmitty wasn't enough to carry them any more.

Also, I don't know who Al Holland is but I'd be fine kicking the tires on his son. "Al Holland Jr." sounds like a black Baptist preacher though.

Edit: Waitaminute, was Holland the 3B on the '93 team?
no Holland was a closer. Hollins was the 3b on the 93 team

Honestly, if you'd said that we would lose 2 out of 3 in Miami at the beginning of this weekend, I would have taken it. That last weekend of the season is going to be fucking brutal though. We better be at least 3 games up in the division before we come back in October.

It's getting late for the Rockies to come up with some more magic against the Braves but at least the Reds lost

Should we be worried about the Mets now? Honestly, I had written them off in mid-August but they've won 7 of their last 8

Yeah I guess they should worry about everyone. Knowing the Phillies they will probably completely choke against Baltimore.

Now, Phils mush play three in Milwaukee, a .600 team. But they’ll have their “best” on the mound, Wheeler, Nola, and Gibson.

Also, I know who Mr. T is. Though I'll be honest, I'm not totally sure what he does... I think it's related to doing PSA's for the federal government though.

I've largely retired the "old and irrelevant" schtick with others but for some reason I thought that it worked well for that comment, so I brought it back. But I think I might be getting old and irrelevant myself. Well, maybe not old because I'm still in my mid-20s but definitely irrelevant. Sometimes I'll be in a car with other people and they'll have the radio on, or they have some app that's playing new music from their phone. Did you know that like half the fucking songs that are currently popular today are sung in Spanish? And the rest of them are in English but they use slang that I've never heard before in my life. Or the worst is when they do some techno/electronic dubstep mashup remix to popular pop songs throughout history... like playing 15 seconds of the chorus from "Billie Jean" before some awful electronic music comes in and then they switch to 15 seconds of the chorus from "Rocket Man" or something. Most of the time I just drive home drunk now because the music that's played in other people's cars makes me suicidal

Yeah the Brewers have a couple aces on their staff. Luckily I think they used one today

Mr. T is best known for being on a tv show called The A Team. I think they remade it into a movie recently. You're spot on with the "mashup songs". Either cover the whole song and let us judge how good it is or stay the fuck off my lawn.
