PFT: Rumors Persist That Eagles Won't Keep Bradford

Talk persists that Eagles wont keep Sam Bradford | ProFootballTalk

All that Philly fan angst about Sam Bradford may potentially be short-lived. If rumors that Bradord may not be long for the Eagles are true, Chippy may very well be trading down despite some pretty direct and declarative statements that he won't. If he's going to be shipping Bradford out of Philly, it won't be (or better not be) to us. We don't "need" a QB, especially one with Bradford's injury history. If he's looking to unload Bradford to select Mariota, it will be either with Tennessee or the New York Jets. He'd probably have to give up a pair of firsts to trade up that high, and may need to since a team like Cleveland -- who's probably figured out by now that Manziel is a bust -- may have enough ammo to trade down with, say, Jacksonville to get their guy.

Everyday that passes without Bradford re-working his deal will fuel speculation that he's a goner. If Chip is going to deal Bradford to select Mariota, we're probably not the trade partners Chip is looking at. Hopefully, Chip sticks with Bradford and we can swing a deal with Cleveland to take their two first rounders. If so, we could take Landon Collins and either a later round OLB (e.g., Bud Dupree or perhaps Vic Beasley if he slips) or an OT (hopefully Andrus Peat). Even if we do take Collins, remember that he's more a strong safety than free, and we really need a free safety more than anything.

But this is wild speculation at this point. We'll just enjoy what Chippy is doing in Philly for the time being.

In some ways I hope Chip does go for MM. But I don't want another Recovering ACL QB here. Especially not the 'year' after. We've seen that movie already.

In other ways, I do not want MM and Chip reunited...could be scary.

Of course we had a cap penalty to deal with the same year that hurt us immeasurably in setting up some pieces around Griff too. That would have made a huge difference. Who knows how it could have turned out really.

Tenn would have to get Bradford and philys 1st round picks in 15 and 16. plus a 2nd rounder in 16. I think both teams would do that deal.

This and the fact that he already gave up a 2nd to get Bradford tells me he is simply not going to gut his draft for MM.

Florio is such a tool. Once again - there is absolutely no basis to these rumors. "Some of the coaches" at a pro day mentioned this to an ESPN reporter? WTF? For all we know they could have been some West Virginia coaches. Whatever happened to credibility in reporting? Perhaps MM will get traded to Philly, but this article sheds absolutely no light on the situation & is 100% speculation.
