People who worry about why people are fans of teams are just plain lame.

Worry about yourself. They can be the fan of any team they want and their ain't shit you can do about it. Complaining about it just makes for a miserable existence and is about the worst kind of moral victory in the entire sports world.

Because guess what? As soon as they start being fan, automatically they create an affiliation from that point forward.

I'm sorry, I don't agree with that at all. I like 2 NY teams, Mets and Rangers. The rest, I can't stand and will never root for them.

Because the rest of the teams are in NJ. (That was a joke referring to the fact Jets and Giants call themselves NY teams)

I think we are all entitled to our opinion on what we think is lame.

For me, being a t shirt bandwagon fan of a certain type is fucking lame and in a lot of cases screams insecurity, jealousy, resentment and a whole slew of other things.

and Honestly, I really could care less if you don't like my opinion.

Let me also point out, that I don't think pro sports falls in the same realm as College Sports.

IMO, Picking a random pro team is more tolerant than someone who picks a random College Team to root for just because their fragile little ego needs to be associated with something that exhibits success.

At the core, College sports are about the University and those that ignore that part of it are a disgrace.

Ohh I know, I say it all the time, the Bills are the REAL NY team since they're the only ones who play here.

i've been to Arizona once. Never been to Tucson in my life. And I am, and always will be, a more passionate fan than you could even imagine being. I guess I'm disgraceful!

How in the world can you even make that claim and know it to be true.

You might as well claim to be taller than me too.

All you are doing making some baseless claim like that is showing a true lack of intellect.

You might not even fall into my description of lame anyway. Regardless, no one said t-shirt fans aren't passionate.

Because if you think your school should reject support from people who don't go there, you are a shitty fan.

This thread again?
The close minded small world mentality needs to open up its eyes a bit.
This is the cringe worthy embarrassing thread that never dies on here.

What happens to the other 6 billion people on the planet who did not attend a USA college?
They are not allowed to root for any college teams because they grew up 1000 miles away and never attended that school or even stepped foot in the state?

SportsHoopla has a strong and growing overseas membership that enjoys college sports...but screw them and their lack of affiliation....

Interesting thought; I'm not sure where you are going with this. For sure, college sports are different, but not sure how relates to those who are fans of a specific team. You might want to expand on that some.

IMO, Picking a random pro team is more tolerant than someone who picks a random College Team to root for just because their fragile little ego needs to be associated with something that exhibits success.

There is some of the "climbing aboard the band wagon; no doubt. That said, seems to me most on this forum root for the same team year after year, so I suspect you are speaking to a small minority of people.

At the core, College sports are about the University and those that ignore that part of it are a disgrace.

IMO, college sports are for the players, students and alumni of a given school first and the rest of the country second. College football and basketball has immensely grown in nation wide entertainment
and viewing to the point where it has become very big business that has detracted from your point, however that perspective should not be ignored. It disappoints me when I see grown men and women behaving badly and forgetting the very point you are trying to make.

Ok, you personally rejecting your fellow fans by calling them pathetic just because they didn't attend your school makes you a shitty fan.

My stance Has nothing to do with whether anyone attended a certain college are not.

Lets just make that clear before you make any other incorrect assumptions.

You have no idea what the fuck you are even talking.

This is the 2nd time you have put words in my mouth or associated me with a stance I never made.

Read my posts carefully before you say shit that isn't true. Otherwise step out of the argument.

I was not born in Nebraska. Did not attend the University of Nebraska, and have never even lived in Lincoln, Nebraska.

However, I've been a Nebraska fan since about 1970.

Only a douche would think I don't have a right to chose what my favorite team is.

You want to cheer for a team you have no affiliation with? Great, go for it. Not everyone is lucky enough to live in my city

however, if you cheer for a team you have no affiliation with and use that as justification for making fun of the actual school/city/state then you are a loser. You can make fun of rival teams en sech, but to say "my" school is better than yours when you actually have no skin in the game other than "i like their colors or that they win" is stupid.
