This basically seals Rupp's fate, but I'm okay with that. Especially if Asham gets more minutes (which he deserves).

Ash needs to just stay healthy, and revert back to the form he played against the Bolts with, as well :D

Easily recon. With this market? Honestly he could've gotten 2mill+

With this move the Pens now have 5.6 million in space. However, that's not including Jeffrey. So if we take off around 750K for him, we'd have 4.5-7 million left. That's to sign Jags (holding out hope) and TK or his replacement. TK has to be a lower number or it's not worth it. Jags hopefully comes for about 2, so the rest is for the last winger, whether that's TK or someone else.

pft.. unfortunate.. woulda been a guy the flyers could use on their lower lines

question to pens fans though, do you guys think the team you have is good enough to win the cup? i dont see them as improving at all so far.. aside from getting sid/geno back from injury

honest question, just curious.. not all that common to see a team basically stand pat in the offseason

What more improvement could you want?!?

They took the Bolts to Seven games with a pack of grinding forwards, adding those two to that series... and WoW!! I can only imagine the possibilities.

The strength is built in the defense (all seven are re-signed), and down the middle. They're going to compete next season.

edit: if they stay healthy, as always :)

Remember that team that played ridiculously well for a long stretch in the fall? That team will HOPEFULLY be back if all goes well. Not only is that team returning, but that defense has grown together after a season together, Fleury found his groove and was team MVP, and we have James Neal playing with one of the best players in the world. Standing pat wouldn't hurt the Pens at all. Health is the only thing standing in our way.

I think they finished tied for 3rd in points in the NHL with these injuries. So I would say they have a team capable of winning with everyone healthy.

He's a fantastic team player as well. Always the last guy in after every game with the fist bumps at the bench. Just a very likable player. I love him.

fair enough.. i only ask because they weren't beating the world when sid/geno were healthy.. the flyers and canucks at least were still ahead of them in the standings

Well Boston was well below those teams in the standings and...We know the end of that story.

They were on like an 18-game points streak or something when Crosby went down. They had a rough start because Fleury and the defense came out flat (probably due to not being used to each other), but as soon as the cohesion kicked it, they were winning at an absurd pace.

If that team stayed healthy, they could've EASILY challenged Vancouver for the Presidents Trophy. That said, a lot of the strengths built came from the injuries forcing players to step up. But still.

It was a 12 game win streak, but longer point streak (had an OT loss before the 12 regulation wins I think?). Pretty sure. Regardless that was a good team run they had going, and that was sans Staal and newly acquired Neal up front.
