Former Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema’s official title with the Patriots in 2018 is “consultant to the head coach”.

Source: the Patriots have waived WR Cody Hollister (non-football injury), the twin of TE Jacob Hollister. The team has also signed OL Nate Theaker, briefly a Saint last offseason.

I hope they resign him just so they can activate him for one game and be the first team to have two sets of twins on the field at the same time.

I stated this before I am pulling for a local kid Ralph Webb, little to no shot at making the roster but I work with his mom so I am hoping the best for him. Any updates would be appreciated.

Day one was hot, humid and just plain ugly. Nobody dropped and Trent Brown passed the physical test.

1st team OL all day was Brown (LT) Thuney (LG) Andrews (C) Mason (RG) Cannon (LT)

Sony and Burkhead got most of the RB work in the 11 on 11's.

Brady wasn't razor sharp but did hit 11 of 15 passes and Gronk caught two TDs.

Dorsett appears to be the choice to attempt to fill in the Amendola role. Nobody really stood out. Will have to wait until the preseaon games.

Defense appears to be much more in step that in the past few years. Donta Hightower says the defense is much easier to understand and the team seems to grasp it much better with Flores scheme. Much different than a defense developed by a rocket scientist.

Most important.....Gronk says he will not even consider holding out for a better contract.

It appears that the day went very well and nothing bizarre to report.

Sony and Rex both got stripped of the ball from what I read. And YB and Gronk were the dynamic duo we expect

On the personnel side, WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) joined other rehabbing players on the field during warmups, but is not yet practicing. Also, RB Brandon Bolden is in uniform and practicing after opening camp on the active/non-football illness list.

Talked to someone who would know today about Malcolm Mitchell. Said he ran well on the lower field today with the rest of the injured guys and had no problems coming in and out of cuts. This coming shortly after a procedure on his knee (told not surgical).

I hope so I still feel the kid has some game IF (that's a big if) he can stay healthy.

The Patriots are releasing veteran TE Troy Niklas and signing free agent WR Paul Turner, according to a league source.

Troy Niklas was cut per Training Camp Central. At first they made a huge grammatical error by say that Niklas was no longer with us. Somebody must have done an

"OMG" in their earpieces. Phil Perry quickly said, He's still alive and around, just not with the team.

Who the hell is Paul Turner and why hasn't Eric Decker been signed?

OR were they showing him off to get some interest for a trade?? 6th or 7th Round pick or maybe even a stupid 4th or 5th??

Wentz looked sharp hitting 9 out of 10 passes, with the lone incomplete being a pass thrown out of bounds. Wentz split 2 defenders with a bullet pass to new TE Goedert over the middle. Wentz had another beautiful throw to Wheaton on the sideline, who was tightly covered.

Did Wentz get traded to NE:scratch:

I hope not we already have enough brittle bitches and two non-SB winning QBs on the team.

You're in the wrong message board. No one in here gives a rat's ass about Wentz or Foles or or any other bird brain.

Back to real players and real teams......................

Today is Saturday July 28. For the past two days Patriots have been in soft pads and shorts. (One reason I didn't drive 85 miles to watch practice).

Patriot's All Access had a great opening show last night and the guys strictly focused on subjects that we Hooplans talk about and question.

1. Players on the bubble. Two days of camp and these guys are talking about the bubble?? They discussed Belichick's constant search for versitility. The first vet they said is on the bubble is Jordan Richards. He's been given every opportunity to make the first or second team on the field and has never pushed hard enough to separate himself. He's a good special teams player but just hasn't been good at all when it counts during the game. Others mentioned are QB Danny Etling, will BB keep 3 QBs? Vincent Valentine, the DL is crowed for the first time in forever with big, fast guys. LaAdriann Waddle, has been a solid fill in, but youth and foot speed are becoming extremely important. Kenny Britt, who seems to have an incredible well of ability and talent and skill, yet has never put it all together to move up among the 'elite' or 'class' WR in the NFL.

2. Next week Tom Brady turns 41 years old. On day two he was 8 for 15 in 11 on 11 and they wondered if he's slowing down or it's more problem of getting in sync with all of the new receivers.

3. Today it's full hard pads and full contact. The coaches will be looking for speed, cutting ability, first step and explosiveness. Not at the beginning of the day, but in the last 45 minutes of today's drills and scrimmages. Everyone is full of piss and vinegar at the opening whistle, it's the guys who can step up in the final five minutes of a game who make a difference.

4. Special Teams. Special Teams actually got a huge amount of time in the first two day. All media was forbiodden to film anything whatsoever with SI. Riley McCarron had a great day as the KO returner and also did some Punt Returns.

5. Some outstanding plays were made by OL Luke Bowanko who was mush faster and mobile than expected.
Braxton Berrios made a full layout fingertip catch that had everyone on their feet.

6. Rookies still have not been issued a number. They're all wearing the number that they were drafted in the NFL Draft this year. No one knew who Berrios was because the non educated thought he was a "tiny" linebacker wearing #55. Don't know when BB will give them a permanent number. Most likely the anal NFL will instruct Bill to do it ASAP so the newbies can be recognized and get gear into the NFL Pro SHop so Roger can get a bonus.
