I disagree. You're overanalyzing things a bit here. Bowman is having a super year because of Willis. Spike was excelling in our defense too because of Willis. Willis is a game changer. He was the main cause of why we won the game against the NYGiants. Sack, chasing Eli down when he clearly could have moved the chains on a critical 3rd down QB scramble; etc. Teams key on him allows others to have an impact on the game. If they both were in the draft today, would any draft Aldon ahead of Willis? I hope not! You'll more likely to find an "elite OLB" than you would find an elite "ILB". Look at all the success guys are having this year - make a comparison of all the OLBs and ILB that got drafted for the past 7 years...the ratio between those that are having success with those who are not finding success is staggering.

That was Bowman

Didn't want to derail the Luck/Willis discussion, so . . .

What would you trade Patrick Willis for?

Good question Imac, Willis is worth a #1 DB Revis, #1 Calvin Johnson and a few high draft picks. The Bengals would be the only team we could trade him too if that were to happen because they have a #1 QB, #1 WR and two 1st round draft picks from the Raiders along with there own. thats a total of six #1's. I would take four of those choices for Willis. Dalton, Green and two first round draft picks.

Sorry Bingo, that was Willis. Got that mixed up with Bowman's play against Vick.

I wouldn't take anything less than the absolute best player in the NFL at any given position in a trade for Patrick Willis.

I'd never have the balls to make that trade though, because if you don't win a Super Bowl immediately after making a trade like that, you'll never work in the NFL again. There is a reason guys like Patrick Willis never get traded, because if you have someone who is respected and loved by the whole lockerroom and who is by all accounts a great guy... if you trade that away, you're sending a pretty big message to your team that its nothing but business for them.

Which seems unimportant, but all these guys talk about right now is how much they love the 'Team atmosphere' that Harbaugh brings, and how they love that he actually cares about them.... I don't hear any of them saying they love being treated like a business asset which can be traded away at a moments notice, even if they're the best player at their position.

What did you disagree with? Did you disagree with a question? I didn't think that was possible. did you disagree that the defense played very well against Pittsburgh?

Or do you disagree that ILB isn't a position with enough value to fully justify a player with Willis' skill set?

Really? You wouldn't trade him for the second best QB in the league?

I don't buy the bit about the message that would be sent. The Niners traded and cut multiple players in the 80s and early 90s that meant a lot to this team and the team kept going.

Sure as hell not Jay Cutler. That guy is extremely overated and is not that much of an upgrade. Im not sure why so many people are high on him here. There are atleast 10 QBs in the league I would rather have then him, not counting some of the prospects coming into the league..

Overrated? Please! Jay Cutler is one of the most underrated players in the NFL. He's played with bottom 2 or 3 talent in the entire league, and he got the Bears to the friggn' NFC Championship game last year. He might've even beat the packers if he didn't injure his knee in that game.

I'm noyt saying Cutler is Tom Brady or Phillip Rivers, but he's defenitely right behind those elite QBs. I'd take him in a second and not look back. I'd take him over Romo, Matt Ryan & Schaub easily. Maybe even Eli Manning too because Eli throws too many picks (although Eli has become a great, accurate long-range passer).

My feelings on Cutler are well-known, so I'll just say.....LOL. The guy isn't horrible, but one of the prime cases of mistaking a good arm for a good QB. Lots of ups and lots of downs equalling an average, maybe slightly above avg., QB.

No, it's one of the prime cases of mistaking a goofy looking dude for goofy looking throws. He's Tim Tebow in reverse:

If only people on this board make half the excuses they make for Smith for Cutler. The guy is playing on a porous offense.

My opinion on Cutler goes back to his rookie year.....which ironically was almost as good as he ever was.
