We got lucky on Monday. Just like Dalton had some bad bounces against the Bears he should've been turned over several times by the Steelers. I think Dalton is better than he was on Monday. He was clearly way too excited and does typically hit the passes that he missed. The issue is that like 80% of his passes are under 5 yards. Sooner rather than later defenses are going to key in on that. To take the next step he needs to throw the ball down the field. With our personnel on offense (which if awesome IMO...love the Gresham and Eifert combo) we should be a juggernaut...not a dink, dink and then dink some more offense.
I think some of that was to take what the steelers defense was giving them. No need to force it deep if they are shading AJ's way with safety help over top. Also, the quicker routes help to keep Dalton from pressure. If you noticed on numerous plays, the CB's were 6-9 yards off the WR's. If they are going to give you an easy completion for 5 yards...take it. Once the CB's move up and start consistently playing press coverage, then you can start to take your shots down field.
