Did I hurt your feelings?

Find me once where I even suggested he was going anywhere. I'm not as delusional as some people around here.

Now, try to follow this simple concept if you can:

Getting a QB more weapons does not equate to building AROUND that QB.

The pieces are there for ANY QB to come in and take the reins easily. Players aren't being brought in to tailor-fit around Dalton. They're being brought in to expand the offensive system/scheme.

Yes. Infact, I'm going to take my ball and go home now.

Is Dalton really a liability, or are you guys just lying to yourself, because you want us to draft the next Aaron Rodgers, and if we have Dalton, we will not even select a QB? Is that what you guys are scared of? Going to be real hard to select an Aaron Rodgers at the bottom of the 1st round every year.

It's very ironic you say this, based off of when Aaron Rodgers was actually drafted. Not really helping your point.

Tannehill absolutely. Cutler, meh I've never been a fan, but he has more arm talent. Smith, nah. Bradford. about the same. I'd say there are 13-14 QB's I'd absolutely take over him, probably 5-7 I'd debate on and then 10-12 I absolutely wouldn't.

And that isn't the point I've been trying to make at all. The point I've been trying to make is where do we get someone better? We aren't going to trade for someone, one isn't going to be on the FA market. Do you want to try and spend a late 1st or a late 2nd on one when we have other holes that need filled too? LT, WR, S, CB, SLB.

I think the whole season will be a referendum on Dalton. If he doesn't progress I would move on next year. I wouldn't make any changes this season...for this year Dalton's the guy and I'm hoping for the best. I think it depends on what is available next year. If they like a QB early they should take one. If there is a stopgap FA that could be an improvement over Dalton like an Alex Smith type situation then they could go in that direction. I think the window of opportunity is so small that you have to be aggressive. The past few years have taught us that rookie QB's are ready to play and can come in an win. So if it plays out correctly I'm all for spending a #1 on a QB. Agree that they should take a LT high next year.

Isn't Dalton already pretty much Alex Smith?

I think Alex Smith is a better Qb. He's got better tools, has better poise, makes better decisions and is more accurate.

Smith wouldn't take us out of the boat we're currently in. He'd be a slight upgrade over Dalton, but is still also a game manager and wouldn't put us in SB contender status.

I would absolutely throw money at Cutler though.

Because it is common to find these types of QB's in the late first and early second.

Not many of them in this league. There are a few exceptions, but I don't see anything in college football on the horizon that would suggest a franchise QB will be available at #32 in the draft. :)

We are in SB contender status already. That is why several experts have picked the Bengals to attend the SB. Granted, you have to live up to these predictions, but the talent is there, at least enough to make the experts put faith in the team, even with Dalton.

Very true.... We certainly weren't able to get one in the early second in 2011.

You are right. We were certainly not able to get an Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady in round two in 2011. Instead we got a good QB perfect for our system. :)

I'm really glad we invented a system for the 25th best passer in the league. We're so novel!

If Dalton is 'perfect' for our system, we will be a top 10 offense. If he's a below average qb we will not.

I laughed. I almost said Touche, but instead opted for a comeback myself so I would have something to do. Which is why I have participated in this worthless topic for so long. I get bored.

Several "experts" also think Dalton is better than an average QB. Some of us just know better.

Cool. I am glad you are an expert. I have been needing some insight on the ways of the NFL and even the world for that matter. I appreciate you enlightening me.

Now I know. Dalton sucks. Shewww...glad we resolved that debate.

I've actually seen every game Dalton has played. The "experts" live and die by the stat sheet.

I will refrain from calling us superbowl contenders until after we play Green Bay, superbowl contenders don't give away their lead to "duh bears"

It's games like this, vs the Pack, or any other top echelon team who has an elite quarterback, where Dalton's shortcomings are really accentuated. If Rodgers just has a decent game, for him, then Dalton will be over his head in trying to keep up.
