Problem is as of now the PAC Isn't really a P5 conference. We all know it, it's just nobody has said it.
Yet half (6) the conference was ranked at end of the season last year. 3 of the top 5 QB’s this season are from the PAC. I’d put the PAC up against the ACC & Big 12 as too close to call.

what about strength of conference strength? with OU and Texas leaving there are 0 schools that are going to be ranked on a year in year out basis.. TCU is right now but i wouldnt expect that to be a several year sort of thing. Oregon and Washington have to consider they are the only schools that would be a yearly power in the conference. they might as well stay in pac if thats the case

Have not. They are a low cost airline so expect to pay extra for everything...a seat, a seat belt, oxygen.etc

IMO, this is all leading towards 2 Super Conferences. The SEC and Big10. They have all the money and power.

When USC and UCLA left the Pac12, the TitleIX, other sports, and travel went completely out the window.

I can see upwards of 24 teams in each the SEC and Big10 conferences when all is said and done. While that sounds great with a natural 11 game schedule, 2 division champs paying in a Semi-Final, and a 'true' National Champ, it tears away at a ton of the fabric of the greatness of college football.

Personally, I'm sad for the fans of teams on the outside looking in. My Huskers haven't done shit in a couple of decades.
I don't look for any of the conferences to expand to 24 members. The more mouths you have to feed, the further you stretch your resources. Eventually, the teams that are producing the bulk of those resources will split off & form their own league. The old Southern Conference was a 20+ member league until 1933 when the SEC split off to form a more coherent 13-team league.

You serious Clark?

B10 is now 20 teams.

1930s had no clue about TV revenue and the almighty dollar. Divorces and splits were over hate and jealousy.

Now? It is all about the money, and no pig wants to be left out of the trough.

My conference football only rankings for 2024 would be this;

SEC
BIG10
BIG12
ACC
PAC
American
Sunbelt
Mountain West
MAC
Conference USA
There may not be a Pac-12 in 2024. But for 2023, I'd rank them as follows:

SEC
Big 10
Pac-12
ACC
Big 12
American
Sun Belt
MWC
MAC
CUSA

Colorado was the bottom feeder team of the worst power 5 conference.

Pac 12 is still in trouble, but losing Colorado is easily the least concern.

Utah, Washington, and Oregon should all be looking to leave as well. Make it 4 16 team conferences and let the pac12 sink.

Depending how the top of the conferences play out, maybe even flip the Pac and Big 10. The Pac 12 is going to be deep this year.

Maybe so, but unless they stumble a notch or two from the recent past, the top two teams in the Big 10 could still wipe the table with the best of the Pac-12. And Penn St. is only a notch or two below those two.

You guys keep bring this up (6 teams in the top 17, AP Poll). What did those teams do to rate those lofty rankings?

In the regular season those six teams played just FOUR P5 teams OOC (opponents were a combined 35-18 while the PAC teams were a combined 42-12). The PAC teams were 2W-2L.

In the Bowls those 6 teams played 5 P5 teams (and 1 G5 team). The 5 PAC teams were a combined 50-16 and their opponents were a combined 43-23. The PAC teams were 3W-2L. The last PAC team lost to a G5 team.

So the SIX ranked PAC teams managed to beat just FIVE P5 teams OOC all of last season yet ended up ranked!! HOW???
