Surely he did, but then in the bottom of then 9th he had a 3-0 count and popped up. They both count toward the overall sample.

Stop watching him dammit! If he's as good as you say he is when you watch, then you should stop it!

Yeah I know but I'm only being sarcastic when I write that. And sorry just scoreboard watching!

Oh yeah one more thing about Sogard, his career WPA is -1.23

That is probably common for a lot of role players though. I would hypothesize that most replacement level to role player type guys would have career WPAs near negative or close.

Thanks Houston.

Porter calls in Josh Fields to close out a 1 run game. He had an ERA of 6 coming in. A's go down in order so they must be kicking themselves, but I'm calling for Bud Selig to launch an investigation because it looks like Porter wanted to throw the game.

I think that's a meaningless stat IMO

Fields has been doing better lately. He actually has good stuff

It's one of many metrics that you can look at when evaluating a player. Just looking at one thing is unwise though.

I agree. But he has a decent WAR though hes having a breakout year in his standards

We've had this debate here before, and the numbers don't prove that assertion. He's actually pretty crappy in high leverage situations and with RISP.

Not sure why you'd be looking at how he is with RISP ... he was batting 8th tonight. Got .323OBP right behind Crisp and about what Elvis OBP is. Sogard is a middle infielder. Scrappy.

Wow just saw how the Yankees lost. I hate them, but that was brutal. We would be livid if that crap happened. Victorino struck out, but the umps said he checked his swing. It was bad.

I don't what it is. All the California teams have magic the last few years now. Even my Warriors have that Magic feel!

This is not about Elvis being a below average hitter. I don't know why that even matters. This is about Eric Sogar not being very good in "clutch" situations when you evaluate the numbers. His OBP is below .300 in both situations. Scrappy isn't quantifiable.
