I was talking with a buddy of mine about this after watching last night's episode of Family Guy. On the show, Peter makes a joke about the the 80s producing some horrible music, including "the gayest video ever." It was Dancing in the Streets by David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Then they showed the video. I'd forgotten how gay this was. Flaming.

So which decade gave us the worst music?

50s - Invented Rock n Roll.
60s - Hippy movement gave us some great stuff
70s - Led Zep, The Doors, Disco, Punk rock
80s - Rap is invented, Thrash metal is also, Hair bands, lots of synthesizers
90s - Alternative rock at it's best
00s - Some good "crunchy" stuff. I'm too old to know the rest of the highlights of this past decade. Somebody help me out.

Best part might be separate from the bands themselves - the decline of the major labels, an unbelievable dropoff in the cost of recording an album, and the rise of more grassroots forms of bands and songs becoming popular.

I take it you've never heard the rumor about Bianca Jagger walking in on Mick and David in bed together? Don't know if it's true, but that was the rumor back in the late 70's. I consider myself lucky to have seen the Stones back in the late 80's. Awesome show. Never saw Bowie, but I've been told he's great in concert also.

I went with 80's even though I love Thrash Metal and some hair metal, but all the other music that was made was horrid. However the 00's are pretty much neck and neck. 50's, 60's and 90's were friggin awesome.

I can't believe someone picked the 70's. Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Queen, Doobie Bros, Allman Bros, classic Elton John, lot's of great music during that era. I realize disco hurts, but the 80's had more than it's share of crap music, as did the 90's and 2000-2009.

90's are what I grew up with... I grew up to 50's, 60's and 70's. But GnR and grunge (fuck Nirvana) was the shit.

I would have voted 90's, but the 90's were great compared to the 00's. Just terrible stuff and the '10s aren't getting any better.

I did! Disco trumps all the work of those other bands. And while I understand there were a lot of great musical acts, some of the ones you mentioned were really born in the 60s. 80s is a close runner up.

To me, the 60s and 90s trump the rest as 1969 and 1991 were bellweather years for rock 'n roll.

I just watched her singing it on you tube. She did a good job to be honest. I think if she becomes a rock singer, she'd be pretty good. JMO

Yes, but I don't know why people get so siced for her. Anyone who looks that much like Billy Ray gets a "not hot" from me.

Most were born in the very late 60's (68 or 69). Their success came in the 70's. Disco only lasted 4 or 5 years at best and was only a part of the 70's. Every decade has some form of music that sucks, some more than others. It's just my opinion of course, but I think when you weigh the pro's and con's of each decade, 2000-2009 comes up short compared to the others.

LOL, yeah she is. My point was she sang it like it was supposed to be sung, she didn't put her own quirky spin to it, but hearing her sing it made me think if she ever decides to sing rocknroll and not her bubbly pop, she has a great voice for it. I bet within 5 years she's in playboy.
