Yes, military personnel are not authorized to carry their own personal weapons which may or may not be wise but there were armed military police on the base.

If you fit this comparison to having armed guards in schools then your argument seems to be to let pupils carry their own personal weapons.

All Military weapons are locked in vaults. Inside those vaults there is no ammo. Ammo is stored elsewhere.

On any Military base it is considered Federal and no weapons can be on base. So even if you are legally in possession of a firearm you cannot enter a US Military base or any building with it.

A lot of countries play a lot of video games and watch a lot of violent movies and don't shoot each other as much as we do. I wonder if the amount of guns and types we have are a reason. Nah, its got to be the entertainment industry's fault.

Instead of the misdirection (which frankly is insulting) the NRA should simply state their feelings - that their percieved* understanding of the second amendment is more important than the lives lost each year in events like these.
