also, w00t! for the Whitecaps signing a player worthy of a press conference, i guess.

i hope alot of people in Vancouver arent dissapointed when they hear the name ... because all signs point to it not being one of the big ones ... Peter Utaka ... Nigerian striker who played for Odense in the danish league

scouting report from 2010:

26-year-old Peter Utaka has been officially called-up to the 30-man squad for Nigeria in the coming World Cup, mainly thanks to his fine form in the Danish Superliga.

Peter Utaka is the younger brother of John Utaka, who currently plays at Portsmouth and who will also compete for the final 23-man Nigerian squad.

Utaka has had a great season at OB Odense, helping them to the second Europa League spot in the league and scoring 18 goals in the league, ranking him as the best scorer in the Danish league.

This is his second successful season at OB Odenese, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in his debut season, transferring from Belgium scoring many goals for Westerlo and Royal Antwerp.

Utaka has so far appeared only once for the Nigerian national squad, playing in 2010 against Congo, against whom he managed to score a goal and provide an assist.

Described as a supporting striker, who can also play in the centre, very powerful and also very fast, which combined with his good dribbling skills enables Utaka to not only score goals, but also create opportunities for himself and for his teammates.

Utaka is a natural scorer, who has great instincts inside the box and knows how to move with and without the ball.

He is a player who can become essential in the Nigerian squad for the World Cup (if he achieves a final spot), considering some of the elder strikers who sometimes struggle

a bit flaky if you read his page on wikipedia

I was getting excited about this Peter Utaka looking at his strike rate but "sources" say he's staying in Europe

the DP looks like it could be 24 year old Gambian Mustapha Jarju who was playing in the Belgian first division ... and he's an MLS DP ??? ... wow ... now Im disappointed lol

AC Milan have raided Porto for young defender Ricardo Ferreira.

The 18 year-old centre-half is expected to complete his move to Milan by the end of the week.

Ferreira is Canadian-born and raised, but now qualifies internationally for Portugal and is an U20 international.

:L again???

a team comprised of cdn born/raised players who have chosen to play for other countries would beat the current cdn mens national team

thank you CSA!!!

It's currently a sad situation, but hopefully with more Canadian MLS teams and more money dedicated to soccer development, things can change.

a couple of hints:

- Whitecaps newest goal scorer played for the Gambian national team and scored 14 goals.
- Newest Whitecap helped his team get into the Belgian 1st division.

seems to fit Jarju:
Mustapha Jarju (born 18 July 1986), also known as Toubabo, is an international Gambian football player with RAEC Mons in the Belgian First Division.[1]
The midfielder was previously the captain of the U-17 national team in Gambia and scored a goal for the national squad versus Liberia in the 2010 World Cup qualification first round.
Since his first season here in Belgium, while he was playing for Lierse, he plays more as a striker. This season he already scored 19 times for his team, RAEC Mons.

Ebrahim Savaneh is also a Gambian who plays in Belguim, but i don't think he captained the national squad.

He just had to go there, didn't he?!? Twitter is a dangerous vehicle when not used properly.

I just think he's stating a trivial fact dash

"Toubab" is a Central and West African name for a person of European descent ("whites"). Used most frequently in the Gambia, Senegal, and Mali, the term does not have derogatory connotations by itself, though it is also frequently associated with "wealthy traveller"

came across this below ... it applies to the bold

Eric Hassli has some bad franglish on twitter ... Heres a post he made to his friend former Man U striker Louis Saha who asked him how everything is going

@louissaha08 j suis bien ici, Vancouver c est terrible.. La famille va bien??

fans started ripping him a new one ... until someone explained it meant "yo yo Vancouver is sick ... off the hook"

btw Hassli up for an espy: Miracle goal earns Whitecaps' Eric Hassli trip to Tinseltown

#WhitecapsFC midfielder Terry Dunfield, the lone Vancouverite on the squad, has been deal to #TFC for cash.

Tom Soehn wins again ... roller coaster month and a half for Dunfield ... brightest light for canada during the Gold Cup ... comes back and struggles for club ... dont think he came back from England to play for Toronto

lol. commits a cheap-ass fol on the goalie and gets some cleats to the face a second later.
Instant karman's gonna getcha.

btw... was it a huge 'fuck you' to Dunfield to basically give him away a few days before the game vs Man City?
