also, w00t! for the Whitecaps signing a player worthy of a press conference, i guess.
i hope alot of people in Vancouver arent dissapointed when they hear the name ... because all signs point to it not being one of the big ones ... Peter Utaka ... Nigerian striker who played for Odense in the danish league
scouting report from 2010:
26-year-old Peter Utaka has been officially called-up to the 30-man squad for Nigeria in the coming World Cup, mainly thanks to his fine form in the Danish Superliga.
Peter Utaka is the younger brother of John Utaka, who currently plays at Portsmouth and who will also compete for the final 23-man Nigerian squad.
Utaka has had a great season at OB Odense, helping them to the second Europa League spot in the league and scoring 18 goals in the league, ranking him as the best scorer in the Danish league.
This is his second successful season at OB Odenese, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists in his debut season, transferring from Belgium scoring many goals for Westerlo and Royal Antwerp.
Utaka has so far appeared only once for the Nigerian national squad, playing in 2010 against Congo, against whom he managed to score a goal and provide an assist.
Described as a supporting striker, who can also play in the centre, very powerful and also very fast, which combined with his good dribbling skills enables Utaka to not only score goals, but also create opportunities for himself and for his teammates.
Utaka is a natural scorer, who has great instincts inside the box and knows how to move with and without the ball.
He is a player who can become essential in the Nigerian squad for the World Cup (if he achieves a final spot), considering some of the elder strikers who sometimes struggle
a bit flaky if you read his page on wikipedia
