probably the best song about getting stoned, quitting your job, and surviving off of Kraft Dinner
good Canadian kids, of course.

happy 61st birthday to Vince Neil.
Sounds like utter ass now, but this was a pretty good tune from back in the day

a good read
it's hard to explain how much this band meant to so many people.

You forgot a young Tom Cruise puck...

is it wrong that I know off the top of my head that the song in that clip is supposed to be Tangerine Dream's "Love on a Real Train"

also, I watched a lot of terrible Rebecca De Mornay films over the years because of this one.

not sure if any of you have seen the documentary Summer of Soul yet
- it's about a music festival in Harlem the same summer as Woodstock, which was filmed, but no one released the footage until QuestLove got ahold of it last year
- Oscar nominated for this year, and a pretty amazing watch. Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Staples Singers, Sly & the Family Stone, a bunch of really great acts.

anyways, in it, I was introduced to Betty Davis
She was the ex-wife of Miles Davis, had brought more contemporary music into his life, which led to his fusion era, including the classic Bitches Brew
She was very funky and very hot - and then she just dropped out of any public life for the last 40+ years.

anyway, she just passed away at age 77

Van Halen released their debut album on this day in 1978
"One of the best debut albums in rock history. Almost reads like a greatest hits album. Their masterpiece. If it was the only album they ever made, they'd still be rock legends forever." - Rolling Stone.

lol - All those guys are rocking some quality hockey hair. I'm fortunate to have retained my hair on my head, but I keep it pretty short these days.

I just bought Tool tickets for March 1st at PPG Paints Arena. I’ve never seen them. Sort of excited except the set list they have been using on this tour is a little underwhelming to me. They’re relying on a lot of stuff from the latest album. I was hoping for more Lateralus and Ænima stuff. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll still be good

Old stuff, I used to watch this for Moon. Now I like Dweezil's guitar playing better than looking at Moon. No offense to Moon if she stops by the board.

I went to see a Zappa plays Zappa concert a while ago, largely because Steve Vai was the special guest.
Was never a huge fan of Frank Zappa's stuff.

Gotta say, I was pretty blown away by Dweezil's playing.

I wasn't really a fan of Frank either. I liked Dweezil's playing and used to think he was personable and funny. Kind of think he should have done his own thing.

released (in Australia) on this day in 1975, AC/DC's debut album High Voltage
They released most of the songs internationally the next year over two albums: T.N.T., and one that was also called High Voltage. confusing, I know

deeper cuts, but good 'uns

don't think this one was ever on a North American album, until this back tracks compilation in 2009.
