Old Guy Radio with some Split Enz this morning - I Got You certainly is their biggest hit and a great tune, but this is another favorite.

on this day in 1980, Iron Maiden released their first single.
Paul Di'Anno was the vocalist then, but I prefer Bruce's version on Live After Death.

little known fact, this is my go-to when i am coerced into karaoke.

the orginal, for the hell of it

also kind of important on this day. Dark Side of the Moon was released in 1973.
one of those albums that is amazing, except for the biggest hit from it (Money)*

so here's a bit of a deeper cut.
Session vocalist Clare Torry was invited to audition for the track, but declined the appointment as she had Chuck Berry tickets that night.
She eventually made it in on a Sunday night and did two and a half run throughs of improvisation.
She was paid 30 pounds for her work, and didn't realize they had used her takes until she saw her name on the credits in a record store.
She was later given a larger settlement including vocal composition credit.
in summary, she wrote that shit.

* others on the list
Van Halen - 1984 - great album except for the biggest hit "Jump"
Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms - great album except for the biggest hit "Money for Nothing"

Not my video but it was a great show last night. Unbelievable how good they sound live.

Maynard gave permission to record the last song of the night with “those stupid cell phones” lol

I had a security guard shine a flashlight on my phone while I was checking NHL scores. Absolutely ridiculous.
