Andrew Wood, 56 years.
Died when he was only 24 years old, a couple of weeks before the release of Mother Love Bone's debut album.
It was his passing that led to Chris Cornell forming Temple of the Dog as a tribute to him.
Pearl Jam was basically the result -Cornell approached Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament (who were in Mother Love Bone), for the ToTD project, and brought in Eddie Vedder to add vocals on a couple of the songs.

I always thought he was a better guitarist than Keef


a couple of neat thinks about Mick
- he got into John Mayall's Bluesbreakers when he went to see a show and Eric Clapton didn't show up for the gig. He asked John to sit in, as he knew the material. Didn't get the replacement job immediately, but the following year after Peter Green left to form Fleetwood Mac, he got the call
- his first ever gig with the Rolling Stones was two days after Brian Jones died, to approx 250,000 people in Hyde Park.
