Getting back to covers for a second, The Sorels were a fictional band for the movie Streets of Fire (which is a pretty terrible movie), but the cover of Dan Hartman's I Can Dream About You is pretty good.

I know they get a lot of flack, but these guys seem to just straight up enjoy making music. The rap medley in the middle is pretty awesome:

Also did a decent job with both the Beatles and Smiths. Two bands that aren't easy to cover.

Born on this day in 1936 - Very underrated in my opinion.

One of my favourites of all time . Classmates thought I was strange in highschool when I listened to him so much .

Hard to believe he died at 52.. so young .

Another great cover from a fictional band (and this time, the movie was very good).

I saw them play down at Breaker's in Point Roberts.
i don't remember how many were there from the movie cast (there were a few, anyway), but they were a fantastic band to see in a shitty little bar.

This was originally a Beatles song that was an outtake from the White Album. Lots of bands did a version but I think this one is the best.

Came across this song the other day and forgot how much I enjoy it...Tracey Thorn has a great voice.

that is one of the best scenes in that 8 hour documentary.

when the cops are trying to get up to the roof to shut them down, and the receptionists gives them the runaround for ... well, about 40 minutes.
"is that door locked? I have no idea how that happened?"
"where's the key? oh, my boss has it, I will try to phone him. Now, how to use a phone again?"

Yeah, early Def Leppard was the best Def Leppard. They got considerably worse as the years went by lol
