Post a link if you can.
Not exactly what you were looking for, but it's a personal favorite, nonetheless. This one is almost as good as Rosanne Barr in San Diego.
EDIT: Here it is for the especially young crowd:
I don't know about "awesome", but the most memorable (and heartfelt) experiences of the national anthem was one I experienced in Sep 2001 @ AT&T. It was the first home game after the "stoppage" due to 9/11. The performer wasn't a singer, he was a whistler (he puts a metal whistle inside his mouth and whistles tunes).
He started his "instrumental" and little by little, fans around the stadium started singing the anthem (not planned, all ad hoc). By the end, almost the entire stadium was singing, and we all had tears in our eyes. I'll never forget it.
I dont remember who it was, but there was an NBA game where a kid was signing. She froze and the coach came out and sang it with her.
THAT one was probably the best ever...
I remember that one. I keep picturing Isiah Thomas as the coach that helped her sing, but I don't know if I'm right. It could be the Carl Lewis flat top that is throwing me off.
It was Maurice Cheeks. I'm sure it's on YouTube.
This is the right link, I just obviously do not know how to post youtube on here...
Mo Cheeks was Da Man there. Even the crowd started helping her out.
It took me a few tries before I got this, too. I fixed yours in the quote. Here's how:
Click on the Youtube icon to get [YOU TUBE][/YOU TUBE] in your post. (I inserted the spaces so the blog doesn't think I'm posting a video, yet).
Between the [YOU TUBE] and the [/YOU TUBE], just copy the code of the video from the URL after the "=" sign.
For example, here is the full URL (with a space inserted so it doesn't get turned into a link):
http://www.you tube.com/watch?v=q4880PJnO2E
So just copy the part after the "=" :
q4880PJnO2E
