So, is it time for Steve Bartman to make an appearance at Wrigley Field in the post-season?

If you put Mario Lemieux on the 82 Oilers instead of Gretzky, he would have scored more points. Lemieux is the most talented offensive hockey player of all time

I agree.
I liked that one.

I also chimed in elsewhere. Shouldn't be too difficult to find.

And arguably, it might have extended his career, all those back problems from having to carry the team on his back for so long. :)

My BBB detector uncovered this little nugget...

Kerry Fraser deliberately didn’t send Gretzky to the box for the high stick on Gilmour because the NHL was dying for their LA franchise to win a Cup.

He might think that, I couldn't possibly comment.

@Haudricourt
Jonathan Lucroy has exercised his no-trade clause and vetoed trade from #Brewers to Indians. Details to come.

@ctrent
a reminder: Jay Bruce’s 8-team no-trade list: 1. Yankees 2. Red Sox 3. Athletics 4. Rays 5. Marlins 6. Twins 7. Indians 8. Diamondbacks

I'm seeing a theme here. Sorry Cleveland.

:D

Hell of a few weeks for the Nats' here.

Picked up Mark Melancon from the Pirates for a mediocre reliever and a decent prospect. He's given up 1 base runner and no runs in three innings work.

And youngster Trea Turner is hitting .300 in the leadoff spot and has stolen 8 times off 21 singles. This is huge because the Nats' leadoff men weren't just bad, they were the worst in the majors... by fucking 20 points!

We are in control of the division, so bring on the inevitably soul crushing playoffs!!

Yep, Pirates are in sell mode to the Moneybags League. We had our 3-year lightning-in-a-bottle, but nothing to show for it. Back to small-market mediocrity for another decade or so.

Pirates have the 4th best farm system in the majors according to MLB Pipeline after the deadline, and 3 of their top 4 prospects have appeared in the majors this year. Austin Meadows is probably their best prospect and he just moved up to AAA after tearing up AA. His ascendancy means one of Marte, McCutchen or Polanco will need to be moved to make way but I see that as a good thing.

Bucs will be fine.
