That also seems extremely low. I thought he was going to get at least $15 mil.Are you kidding me? Going to arbitration over a difference of 450 grand?!?

I thought it was his third year of arb. I was wrong.Arbitration keeps the prices down pretty well. If the arbitration process paid players market rate, then yeah, you're looking at massive dollars, but arbitration works on incremental increases proportional to a player's performance, so it rarely pays market value until the last year. This was Donaldson's second year, and he made $4.3 million last year, so even $11-12 million is a pretty steep raise for the process, and indicative of the type of season Donaldson had last year. Next year, if Donaldson doesn't forget how to play baseball, expect that $15+ million deal.
Here's hoping the Jays' surprise of the offseason is signing Cespedes, then following that up with Gallardo.
I wanted Cespedes but Upton will do. I was scared the Tigers wouldn't get another outfielder.
I'm sure Upton is a fine player, but that just seems like crazy money to me. Hell, he could buy the city of Detroit.
I've never been an Upton (either) fan. I think they would've been better off paying Yoenis whatever he was asking. Couldn't have been much more.I'm sure Upton is a fine player, but that just seems like crazy money to me. Hell, he could buy the city of Detroit.
Hopefully they're talking more about all those swings/misses and JV's 7.65 ERA.I think they just signed Upton for the sports radio guys to make endless JV, Justin Upton/Kate Upton jokes..
White Sox are likely the front runners to land Cespedes. The Mets just seem desperate for someone else to grab him so they won't have to commit. Having him in our lineup solves a lot of problems, really wish they'd just open up the wallet.
