Unfortunately, with the top 3 teams in the NL likely all coming from the central, 2 of those 3 teams will not even get to play in the NLCS.

Second best record in baseball, fourth "seed" in a play in game. Baseball has to change something about that. Sorry. Winning your mediocre division shouldn't equal a better playoff position. That goes for all sports. Basketball is finally doing that, other sports should follow. We had it in the NFL last year, with the Panthers making the postseason. Have it this year in MLB with the NLC. Not only do the records speak for it (I mean, the Cubs are getting hosed too. They have the fourth best record in all of baseball and sit as the last team in), but look at the strength of schedule too. The Cubs/Pirates have to play each other and the Cardinals, three of the best teams in all of baseball, have 38 (nearly 25%) games total against two of the OTHER best teams in baseball, and are essentially punished for it. Yes, that also means those teams have nearly 25% of their games against the Brewers and Reds, but when you look at the NL East with the Marlins, Phillies, and Braves, it was a two horse race. NL West has Rockies, DBacks, Padres, and the Giants in an odd year (I mean, come on). This is pretty much the culmination of my frustration, but it's very true that the Cubs/Pirates are getting punished for being in the same division, even though that really just means they have a tougher schedule.

Get rid of the wild cards all together. Go back to an AL and NL West and East with the winners playing in the LCS. I'd rather see fan bases crying they won 98 games and didn't make the playoffs than saying we've got the third best winning percentage in the majors but play in the toughest division and it's not fair we have a one game playoff when a crappy division winner with an inferrior record gets a "bye".

Baseball, like life, was invented to be unfair.

Didn't the Twins win an AL division title with 85 wins one season? I think that same team went on to win the World Series.
