In case you haven't noticed (and judging by the attendance, you haven't) the Blue Jays have managed to win a few games of late and are creeping back into contention.

they better keep it going they only have what 83 games left in the season to catch the wild card

What in the holy hell was that?

According to the comments... an "end of life crisis." hahaha.

I don't really understand the lyrics. If you choose coffee or tea, you still have to be with her. Is there a none of the above option?

At least they avoided any camel toe in this video. Improvement!

Bucccccooooooos. Gerrit Cole just dominant tonight. 2 ER against him, but probably should've been pulled before the second ER. 6.1IP, 1BB, 5K, 2ER, 4H. The guy throws over 100mph regularly (hit 101 once), and has a NINETY TWO MILE AN HOUR SLIDER. A sinking pitch going over 90? Sheeeesh. Bats were alive too. Cutch with a pair of doubles. Pedro with a homer. Jordy Mercer with a HR and a few singles. Lordy. That was a complete game.

Solid game indeed, but Cole still has a lot to learn. He's getting hit hard in each of his starts the third time through the lineup. A true ace can't survive that way.

Also, my productivity, if I had any to begin with, has gone way down since discovering whoselineoneline.org. Several episodes a day cannot be healthy, can it?

what makes it even more gratifying, both the Cards and Reds lost, so they vault the Reds for second and are now only 3 back of the Cards. loooong way to go yet, but it is nice to see. :suds:

I know the Bucs have started out like this the last couple of seasons only to fade by the end, but for some reason, this year just feels different. I think they'll be right there at the end of the year this time.

This is a legitimate roster. 2011 was a team playing soooo farrrr over its head. 2011 Pittsburgh Pirates Roster by Baseball Almanac I mean, look at that. That's...not a winning team. Not even close. The starting rotation then: Correia, Karstens, Maholm, JMac, Morton. Um. Eeww.
2012: They had a chance, but the rotation was still pitching over it's head. Correia, Karstens, AJ, Morton (hurt 1/2 way), JMac (fell apart), then Wandy after the AS break. Compare that to Jeff Locke (leading NL in ERA), AJ, Wandy, Gomez (came from no where), Morton, Cole, and heck Cumpton was suitable. Those top three are legitimate. AJ headed the staff, but it fell off after him. Now we have three incredibly good options in the top 3.

also, let's look at the roster in general.

A lineup seen in 2011:
SS Cedeno, 2B Walker, 1B Overbay, 3B Alvarez (though not always), C Doumit/Snyder, LF Tabata, CF McCutchen, RF Jones
And this was before these guys that are still around really matured. Jones in RF was painful. Pedro had major growing pains, limited power that year, Cutch wasn't yet a monster.
A lineup seen in 2012:
SS Barmes, 2B Walker, 1B McGehee, 3B Alvarez, C Barrajas/McKenry, LF Presley/Tabata, CF McCutchen, RF Jones
The ABSOLUTE biggest changes? Marte, and more importantly, Russel the Muscle Martin.

I agree, but what was the biggest difference in this start was seeing those secondary pitches. Incredible. That slider man. It's true that eventually guys catch on to the overuse of the fastball, but I think it's with complete intent that we haven't seen everything from the get go. His first game he won with basically JUST the fastball. Second game was more of the same, some breaking balls, but LAST night was the first time we really saw that nasty slider. It was tightly wound. Brilliant.
