As for the other movies in the series, I remember 1 and 2 being OK, if a bit long, given that they were geared to the 10-15 age bracket.

3 was very meh until the ending where, for me, it nose-dived to terrible status. They spent the whole movie think SB is so evil and scary, then they meet him and it basically goes SB: "No Harry, I'm the good guy." HP: "Oh, he's the good guy, let's trust him." I understand that scene was better in the book, but it was very poorly done IMO and killed the whole thing for me.

4 was OK also, though I thought this introduced a plot element that was not really carried (in the movies at least) - the other wizard schools. Are we really to believe Voldemort only wanted to destroy Hogwarts/England? Why didn't they get help from the other schools?

5 was a total waste of time except for the very end (which, to my understanding is mostly what people said about the book). The whole thing with the woman taking over Hogwarts didn't mean much, and I thought the scene where SB dies was poorly done because you don't really know that he's dead until much later.

6 I don't remember too well honestly, so I won't say anything on that.

Really everything you've said was done much better in the books. And your complains about the 5th are similar to mine. The whole focus of that movie was on Umbridge, when in reality that was merely part of the plot.

I started reading the Sorcerer's Stone last night at about 1AM....Went to bed around 3:30 almost half way done

Funny how engrossing these books really are. I have memories of doing that with pretty much every book (sans the first two because my 8-10 year old attention span wasn't quite that great). I'd read for 4 hours and have no idea it had been that long...because I was in Harry Potter land.

Yeah, I have a rather addictive personality (hello hockey). When I find something I like I become PASSIONATE for it. Examples being hockey and Harry Potter. I become completely absorbed to the point of being a geek. I'm a serious HP geek. It's gotten better since the books ended, but for like a few months after the books were done I read...*sigh* FanFiction. It was a way of trying to hold on to something that was done. Then the stories started to suck, so I stopped. Hah. And yeah, I cry quite easily. I honestly would've cried more in the last film, but there was a girl in front of me openly sobbing...and it was too amusing to cry. Also, in that goodbye clip, what really got me was Rupert Grint (who had to leave the premiere because he was emotional) crying. :(

Fanfiction is awesome. I wrote some when I was 13-16, and it really helped me grow as a writer.

I still read some of the really great stuff that is out there. This one in particular is amazing, and if you're still clamoring for a great story in the Potterverse, I recommend it. It was written during the time between the 4th and 5th books, so it's Alternate Universe now (Sirius is still alive, Hagrid is dead, etc.), but it's a phenomenal read. Takes place, as the title notes, "After the End."

I read and finished the 800 pager over one weekend. Less than 48 hours. :L
