I actually feel bad (only a little because they need TO READ THE EFFING BOOKS) for those that are merely movie-goers. Because they HAD to be lost. They explained nothing about horcruxes. That's seriously the most important part of the entire series. Another part that was cut from the movie (understandably because it's mostly internal with Harry) was the Dumbledore's past thing. Harry never got angry with him so it wasn't mentioned in the King's Cross part at the end of 7.

From part 1, I agree they did not even touch on Dumbledores past except for that one little bit between skeeter and doge.

The other thing I thought they messed up was the wedding. I felt like the wedding scene was 1/3 of the book. The movie touched on it for about 2 minutes before hell broke loose.

BTW, Pix...is it OK that I've nicknamed you "Pixie"? I was calling Vee "Killer" for the longest time not knowing that she hated it. :L on me.
Yeah, it's cool!

You're absolutely right they had to be lost. I read the book and in general I remember just about anything I ever read...but with that movie I was just as confused as anyone else.
I've just never been more disappointed coming out of a movie before. The 6th was one of my favorites (okay, for girly reasons because I liked the Harry/Ginny romance thing going), but there wasn't much they did well in that one. They forgot a ton of stuff, and botched so freaking much. The one thing left out of the movies often that upsets me the most is Quidditch. It's such a magical sport and gave so much to the plot, but understandably, it was cut.

Read all the books but the movies always change it up a bit. Despite deathly hallows being the closest thing to the book, they still left a lot out and added a few things.

I hate more when they add things. ALTHOUGH *actual spoiler for those who read the books and didn't see the movie yet* I liked the new addition of Neville loving Luna. Because I always saw that happening in the books.

They sped through the first few chapters of the book, per usual. Another thing left out was Dudley redeeming himself. That I don't get...it would've taken 2 minutes TOPS to do that. Why not? It was a nice little goodbye to the Dursley family.

I honestly don't understand how people can not like this movie. I'm the biggest Potter fan I know (super nerd, involved in the fandom since like 2000), and I loved it.
Super nerd here too, but no interest in the Potter. Must be my age.

See now that will make me mad, because I want to marry Luna

Hahahaha, she's pretty awesome. I love Neville too...he's so freaking BA in the 7th book. Which leads us to another plot line left out of the films: Neville was nearly the Chosen One. A lot of these though, are easy to understand that they were left out. Like the Harry/Dumbledore stuff from the 7th book. All of that was really going on in Harry's head, so it's hard to convey into a movie. Man, I need to re-read these again.

The wedding was like entirely exposition. Not needed. Obviously they made a decision when they wrote the script to can most of the Dumbledore's past stuff. Understandably so. While it fleshes out a great character and adds such an interesting element to the Harry/Dumbledore relationship in the book, think of how it all plays out: newspaper articles, a book, conversations with one-time characters...not exactly the best subplot for a movie.

Haha doubt it. My mother celebrated her 53rd birthday with me, my sisters, and friends seeing it at midnight!

I just thought Krum, Xeno lovegood, grindelwald talk was important and not touched on. The only thing they included was xeno's medallion which makes it look like Harry/Ron/Hermione recalled it when really it was all Krum.

I mean, if we were to take someone who knew nothing about Potter and let them watch all the movies, they'd have NO idea what the true sub-plot of the series is. There are literally 100 different trains of thought that all lead to one final ending. That's why the books are so fantastic. She wove together dozens of story-lines and it all came together brilliantly with very few holes, and none of those being major. It's impossible to do that in a movie. It really is. Not without some sort of overhead voice reading off what's occuring in someone's head.

My sister going with to see it with my 54-year old father on Wednesday! Try again. Haha.

Seriously have never met anyone who read them and didn't like them (and when I say that, I mean at least the first three).
