I need Obamacare. I'm self-employed and have pre-existing conditions. Hopefully, they work this shit out.

I'm self-employed with pre-existing conditions too. But Obamacare is not the answer, for either of us. There needs to be more debate on the issue, but neither side wants to really address the issue. If Obamacare is the answer, then why isn't it good enough for the politicians that want it for us? Why should they get such a better deal, at the cost of the taxpayers?

One of my good buddies is 27 and healthy, but had an issue with his kidney back in college and has since been deemed un-insurable. Obamacare was built for people like him who were unable to get coverage. He looked yesterday, and the most reasonable plan offered to him was going to cost $9k a year. He makes < $60k a year. When you start considering what he is actually taking home, it still isn't reasonable.

So they're basically going to get a paid vacation.

Except for the people that live paycheck to paycheck.

I think "you're an idiot" pretty much sums up my response to your insensitivity to other human beings.

That's not a reasonable point of contention because politicians' healthcare will ALWAYS blow away the healthcare of the common people. They already have the world's best healthcare, so no matter what the best "solution" is to the healthcare problem, theirs will ALWAYS be better than ours and they will never change it.

Though I support Obamacare, I, as well as the vast majority of people (look at any poll), do not believe it to be the BEST solution. It absolutely needs adjustments. But Republicans have zero solutions. They just want to get rid of the entire thing altogether instead of using it as a basis from which to build.

That hasn't been decided yet. This one, they are telling employees they should plan on not being back paid.

The reason Congress has back paid civilians in the past was to lessen the burden on the states. Furloughed employees are entitled to file for Unemployment insurance....like anyone on a temp layoff. States with large numbers of Federal workers would be hit hard.

Isn't the IRS is shutting down everything ... except tax collection?

That's just inherently wrong, and it needs to change. They are supposed to work for us, not on us. There is no good reason for them to be priviledged above the common people. None.

I agree with you, but it won't change. They also should not be able to do what is essentially "insider trading", but they make the laws and they allow themselves to do it.

I'm pretty sure the $9k yearly premiums included a high deductible. When my wife was laid off from Delphi we had to start buying our own insurance, and the best policy we could get, in 2007, cost $900 per month and had a $10k yearly deductible for each of us. This was the best we could do then, and now it's much worse.

For fuck's sake..... You'd be better off just going to the ER and not paying your bill..... You know, like most un-insured Americans!

I simply can't understand the Tea-Party solution here.... Doing nothing is going to help? Obamacare may be flawed, but it certainly will help a lot of people in the very near future.

The tea party solution isn't doing nothing. It's turning the solution over to private companies with real market solutions. In a real free market, eventually the price point has to meet what the average person can afford. And don't say it's been tried before and never worked. Real free markets don't exist right now. It will take time, but it has a better chance to work than a government semi-controlled plan with favorites being played as far as exemptions go. Even the pro Democrat Teamsters Union says that Obamacare will destroy the middle class.

Uh, the Dems are in charge. If the country is ruined, it's their tubes it's going down.

Obamacare was passed when the Dems had complete control. Nancy Pelosi would not even allow Republicans to initiate debate issues, and very little time was given to study what was in the bill. Around time the bill was about to be voted on, Pelosi was heard to say "We have to pass the bill to find out what's in it". It was rammed down our throats. It's the Dems' agenda that runs the country now, even with Repubs' control of the House. When things go bad(as they already are), keep that in mind.

ITA, they think everyone that doesn't agree with them is an idiot or stupid. They have an agenda and that's OK but don't think the other side won't use every tool in it's shed to muddy the waters. The Dems did the same thing (muddy up the waters) when the repubs were in office. Anyone remember how the Dems wanted to defund the troops in Iraq. Both teams cheat. OK flame you can call me more names now.
